You lot got unlucky that Gerrard and Lampard didn't play well together, that's all. I hate that the English are so cynical toward their football team when most countries would love to produce talent and have great domestic club football like England does.

I'm being serious. What WC favorite or top 5 team have they eliminated since '66?

Goalkeeping wise, we're fine.

Defence is okay, Cahill/Jags are a solid centre back pairing, LB is sorted too with Baines/Shaw. RB is terrible though, Glen Johnson is shit, not that good at attacking and can't defend. Smalling/Jones are only in the team because of who they play for.

Midfield and upfront are decent enough.

I'd bench Rooney and start Wilshere/Barkely

Well, scientific research says the Limeys put the Belgian golden generation out of commission at the Final 16 in 1990. Take in fact it was the same team that made it to the semifinals the previous WC.

Also, in 2002 they beat Argentina in the group phase. It was the same team that had run a train in the South American qualifiers and was considered one of the top odds on favorites to win it.

'04 and '06 was England's best chance at winning and we didn't do anything with it. Individually we were as good as anyone imo but as a team we didn't click, especially in midfield.

We aren't producing talent like the rest of the top countries are so who knows when our time will come.

But yeah, only 2 victories in a large record of dissapointments, including being besmirched by Argentina. Twice. And those have to sting the most.
