Carlos Vela has said he is looking forward to a "great year" at Real Sociedad after it was confirmed that a deal worth a reported 11 million euros had been done with Arsenal to allow him to stay.

I remember when Muniain was supposed to be the next Cruyff or something. Teams were ready to throw absurd money at him because he had a few good games against United.

Have heard little from him since.

Read my post, i say they play similar roles. In no place i compare both in terms of quality. Cesc, with all his flaws ( defensive laxity, turnovers,etc) possess the most valued talent in football, scoring ability, that alone puts him ahead of Herrera.

That said, Herrera is a Diamond in the rough, entering his prime years and with a little luck hell show himself worthy of what undoubtely is a deep invest on the part of ManU. Also, the high price is in part due to Athletic policy of playing just basque footballers. The scarcity of high level basque players makes Athletic a no-selling club. You have to pay the clause if you want to sign an Athletic player, always.

Am I the only one who sees a big difference between Suarez and Cantona?

You can't compare an act, while heinous and despicable, that was performed on the field and against another player with straight up harming a member of the audience.

Ofc not but this was Suarez's 3rd time he bites someone. Add what happened with Evra. 7 game ban from Ajax/dutch FA for biting a player, 10 game ban for biting by english FA, 8 game ban for the racist comment. Thats in 4 years, he gets banned for around 10 games each season it seems.
 
Of course I'm counting on that past weighting heavily on whatever ban they put on him.

I'm speaking of that ban being extended to club football.

Not really, I'd say it's only in the last decade at the most that TV money has usurped all and it became about ratings first and foremost. Over rules, fans, etc

Well it has everything to do with his transfer this summer. He gets banned for 6 months to a year, and Liverpool gets stuck without their star and no cash return for it.
