2, 3, 4, 5 plate lifts

I would have to take every PED in the world to get to a 2 plate OHP. My OHP and bench goes up about a kg a year.

I hope you reach your goals TS, we're all gonna make it brah.

1)PED's? I'd need the fucking Super Soldier Formula that Captain America mainlined to hit a 2 Plate OHP. I'd be Juicing harder than Prime Lance Armstrong or a World's Strongest Man finalist.:icon_chee

2)If it makes you feel any better, that's still about half a kilo more than I get in the average year.

wouldn't a 2 plate strict OHP require a stronger than 3 plates bench?

A 2 plate out would be sweet, I'm stuck at like 165, 2 plates would be so sweet.

At this rate my OHP will exceed my BP

Me too, I don't make bench any sort of priority, I donut once a week because I feel like I should but I try to ohp 2-3x a week.

I'm still 75lb shy of my bench though so it will be awhile.

From what I have heard your OHP is around 60% of your bench which would mean you would need to bench 375 to keep the ratio the same. I would say that is normal and with good technique you can exceed that. Mine is between 68 - 72% compared to my bench.

My ohp is right near 65 % of my bench. But again, I do t really practice bench so much.

I pressed 225 and has nowhere near a 300lb bench.

My best bench was 290. I don't think I could have done that when I pressed 225.

I will jump on the bandwagon. Goals for the rest of 2015:

2 plate OHP
3 plate Bench
5 plate Squat
6 plate DL

Though I don't feel like I made a lot of progress in the last 12 months, the goals are the same as last year:

5 plate deadlift (220kg) is a formality, I just need to pull it already.
4 plate squat (180kg) is getting in reach slowly with more reps and better technique.

Even a 130kg bench and a 90kg would be short of a miracle in the same timeframe. The small aches and pains I had for the past months are slowly worked out, but I feel unconfident after certain weights.

I've been training for 3.5 years and I've never benched 225. Best press is 155, best squat is 330 and best dead is 415. I'm doing something wrong judging by some of your guys progress.

DYEL, bro :D

well I am 5'9" 190 and I basically am not too great at pressing exercises but PRs are as follows
bench 290
press 205
squat 450
deadlift 550

of course my goal isnt really powerlifting or any strength sports but rather just general strength so i guess it is ok...I would like to get stronger and a little better body comp but some shit always happens and i lose motivation and/or change goals...so it is

what are folks thoughts on a good ohp routine?

not really focused on it before. in the past i followed a regular 5x5 routine (SS, MC and MCad) but never really pushed it further than that.

i've had success with my bench routine up to now which usually looked something like this:
session 1- work up to 5 heavy singles then ~5x10 BBB style (bench or narrow grip bench) sometimes followed by a single AMRAP set.
session 2- work up to 5 heavy triples then ~5x5 weighted dips, paused bench or equivalent.
it's basically an adapted 531 program.

any thoughts on whether this would be a good routine for ohp- i get the feeling more volume would be a good move. what kind of assiatance do you do? i'm guessing regular band/prehad/mobility work is a necessity but any other lifts?

cheers.

I find more volume helps my overhead press. That's all I really do for it, although my overhead press isn't great, so I might not be the best person to give advice.
