Since the average age on Sherdog is around 37 I believe, I think these are the two most special decades for most of us.

From the perspective of.

- Music
- Technology
- Economy
- Movies
- World events
- Education
- TV Shows
- Society

Whatever else you want to add.

But I have to go with the 80s, that decade hit me more in the feels.

Can't really explain why but it did.

One of the big world events I remember vividly is the space shuttle challenger exploding mid air. Never forget that moment. It was devastating.

Average age of a sherdogger is 37? I doubt too many are even under 40.

The 90's had the end of the USSR/cold war.

You are probably right as of now.

I did a thread/poll about how old is everyone on here it came out to be 37ish as the average based on my calculations.

It's probably older now, I have no idea how many newer members that are young have joined since than.

But I'll have to do another thread/poll like that to see what the numbers will be like now.

Well a 2020 poll coming out at 37 would... all things being equal mean it's now 42 in 2025.

I'd be interested to see the results of a new poll.

It would be 42, depending on influx of new blood on here since than. So I don't know it could vary depending on that.

But anyways you pick 1990s? Did you prefer 1990s music, movies and TV Shows as well?

I was really young in the 80's so I basically grew up in the 90's. I loved all the old action flicks and a crapload of 90's metal.

Born in 86, so I didn't really experience all that much of the 80s. Just remember a dream where I was looking down the crack between a wall and a cabinet at the dead of night, to see "Where the Heart Is" coming towards me. Also making a snowman and escaping a nursery to run up a curved hill towards a caravan.

Judging by what I've seen online and my own biased memories, I voted 90s, but only early 90s.

I was born in the 70s. Went to HS in the 80s, and college in the 90s. It is very hard for me to choose between these 2 decades. 1st of all there was overlap. The early 90s was just an extension of the 80s, just like th eearly 80s was an extension of the 70s. In my head I always think of the 80s as loud and vibrant and fun. The 90s darker and more serious but still fun. Both decades had amazing movies and music. With a gun to my head, maybe I say 80s, but otherwise it's a toss up.

Whats better:
GNR's Appetite for Destruction or Nirvana's Nevermind?
Back to the Future and Die Hard or Pulp Fiction and Shawshank?
Stonewash Jeans neon T shirts and Denim jackets with High Tops or Baggy Silvertabs, flannels and leather jackets with boots?

The thing I miss the most about those eras is the bands. Real bands that played music that were mainstream. They played it on the regular radio stations. Bon Jovi on Z-100! Now it's all pop or Urban music. Top stations never play bands anymore. My kids have seen more classic acts than modern. My daughter went to see the Weeknd and said it was boring compared to the Korn or Blink 182 shows we brought her to.

Both are amazing, would depend when you were born imo.

I was born in 78 so while I have lots of great memories of the 80's, was still pretty young. Somebody born in early 70's would probably scream 80's all day.

'88 onward through early 2000s was a good time to grow up as a teen and enjoy the world, that's all I can say from my experience!

Not sure what the fuck has happened the last 15-20 years....I wonder if it has something to do with too much technology though.....
