16 years on Sherdog today

I was a little shocked when I saw you posting a 16 years count. Made me checked my join date and realised I'm a 13yrs account as well. Stayed in the heavies for the first month and the remaining time here in Mayberry, Very occasionally lurking at War Room.

I remember a short period of time where I was active in playing Vcash where we can make bets on MMA events and random sports.

I too learnt the art of US tipping and well done steak with ketchup from here. Love Dragonlord movie threads, ZooKeeperGabe animal threads. Food threads, the asshole wizard as well.

Glad I found this community and happy to be have been here so long. I hope everyone stays healthy, happy and continue to lurk here for the decade to come :)

Good day my Sherbros, shersis and sherpeople!

Sherdog is the only social media that I use, and I have to say that I have met some awesome people on here. Some of you helped me through some difficult times, and I am glad to be part of this little community.

Thanks to Sherdog, I have learned much about:

-tipping
-relationships
-how to hide from a gf’s criminal family in Bangkok
-trying to understand people who eat steak well done with ketchup (not quite there yet)
-the dangers of attractive females with pointy elbows

And of course the art of banging 265s and benching 10s

Wishing everyone a good day, and I look forward to another few decades here!

Congrats Sherbro, I'm sure you don't regret joining. I'm sure you're the same but the amount of pussy I've gotten purely because of this account is outrageous, even just by saying "Rickson by armbar" gets those panties dropping.

Thank you for the interview. The live audience reaction was pretty amazing! Here’s the official transcript:

Purplestorm: Today I have the awesome opportunity to ask a few questions to fellow sherdogger Otto! Welcome to the show!

Strong manly handshake occurs, reminiscent of this legendary moment:

Purplestorm:
How has sherdog changed since you first started posting here?

Otto!:

I feel like the community has evolved in some ways and stayed the same in other ways. I think that the quality of MMA discussions have evolved alongside the sport. If we overlook the “drama” threads about who said what and the perennial but useless P4P/GOAT threads, I think that there are some very decent discussions to be had on styles, matchups and evolution MMA as a whole.

Purplestorm:

Great answer and you’re looking really good by the way.
How is it the same or similar?

Otto! :

There remain and will always be a certain partisan bias to fighter discussions from many users, but that’s human nature. Some people tend to diminish or embellish some fighter’s accomplishments based on whether or not they like said fighter, but there are plenty of Sherdoggers who cal, it like it is. As mentioned above, certain discussions (P4P, fighter pay) have taken place hundreds of times and will keep taking place but they’re easy to ignore.

Purplestorm :

Thank you for your honest assessment. The ladies must love your confidence.

What's your most memorable moment at sherdog?

Otto! : I was truly humbled by the support I received from Sherdog after my wife passed away a few years back. I was at a very low point in my life and here were all these strangers wishing me well, many sharing their phone numbers in case I needed someone to talk to. I will never forget the kindness shown to me by this community.

Purplestorm : I’m not crying, you’re crying.

What's your favorite fight you've seen in these 16 years?

Otto! : Thanks for the hug, I needed that.

So many great fights over the years. Some truly awesome wars but I’ll go with these 3:

Edgar vs Maynard 2
Joanna vs Zhang
Hendo vs Shogun 1

Purplestorm :

What's a cool outdoors experience you've enjoyed?

Otto! : I went out on my ATV for a 4 day fishing trip. Went deep in the woods and pitched a tent by a remote lake in the mountains. No houses in a 40 miles radius, no cell phone coverage, just me, plenty of brook trouts, a camp fire and plenty of mosquitos. Life seemed perfect. No light pollution whatsoever so the night sky was just amazing.

Purplestorm : Thank for sharing this very studly adventure with us. Unfortunately I’m late for my daily regimen of banging 10s, so this is all the time we have.

Otto! : Thank you for having me on the show. I hope we get a chance to fill some rooms with uppercuts together at some point.

Sherdog is the best MMA forum on the internet in my experience. Cheers, Sherbro!

Congrats @Otto! I can honestly say you've made Sherdog a better place since you've been here. Absolute legend status for your Froot Shoop thread alone. Glad you're here.

Amazing thread tnx for reminder
