Apparently we do have red flag laws and I don't think a judge needs to be involved just a call to the cops but don't quote me on that part.

So they didn't actually legally get the guns returned? Does that mean the mom had the guns illegally?

I actually like it. I’ve lived in BC and Georgia so have some variety. If you are into hunting and fishing and like winter, it’s good.

I am miserable, but don’t call me on it.

Sounds like the law almost worked as they removed all guns in the home in the past, but sounds like the owner petitioned for their return and won. Mental health issues including police visits from the shooter.

Too bad they gave them back of course.

They can try and Liberals will certainly use this tragedy to their advantage.

But the appetite isn't there; most provinces and police services have already rejected the "buy back" and I can't imagine why any rational owner of a previously non-restricted, unregistered firearm would even comply. At best, it'll be another expensive and ineffective virtue signal.

McDonald identified the suspect as "an 18-year-old female by the name of Jesse van Rootselaar," adding: "We have a history of police attendance at the family residence. Some of those calls were related to mental health issues."

Police said earlier that the suspect was found dead inside the school from "a self-inflicted injury."

Asked about the suspect's gender identity, he said: "I can say that Jesse was born as a biological male who approximately … six years ago, began to transition to female, and identified as female, both socially and publicly."

McDonald added that the suspect “dropped out of school approximately four years ago and was not currently attending the school.”
 
I haven’t read up entirely on the story so don’t quote or scrutinize me too much but I will state as a fact 1000% that NO KID should ever be prescribed anything to do with hormones, transition to a different sex, or even think about it until they are 18 at the very least. If I could, I would force the age to be 21-23. There simply needs to be mental councilors or the like that helps these kids with their feelings. They need to try anything and everything before hormones. And even then I personally don’t think hormones is the answer.
