None of this really has anything to do with the original point i contestedYou are cherry picking a guy who was already retired for years and came out of retirement to take very specific match-ups he felt comfortable with. He can do that because he already has a net worth in the tens of millions.
More to the point - the reason Jon could fight a french dude who can't wrestle or a retired 42 year old firefighter is because heavyweight is a barren wasteland. We shuffle around fat old farts because its 12k to get brain damage live on PPV.
That is an absolutely terrible risk -vs- reward proposition. Until the revenue split goes materially up, suitably young suitably talented athletes the size of 185lbs+ are not going to enter MMA.
The NFL has broadly speaking, tens of thousands of good-to-great athletes that would like to be in the league, right now. We get to see elite game play because the pay is high enough to attract everyone capable of doing it at a high level.
The roster depth in MW-LHW-HW MMA is absolutely embarrassing. So is the average and and average athleticism. People with no good options consider MMA>
You are just randomly asserting a correlation where there is no evidence of one.
