Social ‘I love Hitler’: Leaked messages expose Young Republicans’ racist chat

No it doesnt. Are they idiots for making awful jokes? Sure. Do these guys deserve all the downfall on their heads? Yeah. Absolutely. Do they actually adore Hitler and support the nazi regime to exterminate jews, destroy the church and its influence and instill some figure as the highest power in the land? Its doubtful.

People used to be able to make these kind of distinctions and now it seems like common sense is not so common. This is exactly why theres a tendency for people on the right to argue that words have lost their meaning they're just applied whenever it feels appropriate as opposed whether its actually accurate.

Or, Trump's arrival into politics triggered the death of the euphemism. The most popular show in America regularly discussed the great replacement theory and how Spanish speakers were destroying America.

Nobody thinks these guys wear SS blacks on the weekend and dream of putting Jews in the ovens, but they don't have to be that extreme to be dangerously Nazi. The overt racism alone in these budding political activists is a serious cause for concern.

The right argues that words have no meaning because it's getting harder and harder to hide the truth.

And how can these things be called "jokes"? They felt comfortable saying these things because they were talking with like minds; they didn't get in trouble for saying them, they got in trouble for getting caught.

"In Brooklyn, we don't have any gay people. They're all dead. What we got is a big sign that says, 'Welcome to Brooklyn, fourth largest city in America.' with this dead hanging off the pole. They're not from this planet. Let's face it. I don't see how any man could look at another man's hairy ass and want to bang it, you know. I see a guy with a hairy ass, I want to give it a wash and blow dry, that's the extent. They're not from this planet. They're from :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:ron, come on."

A younger gatchaman was in the audience laughing and applauding, and you can dox him to his gay employer. Do you do it? Another sherdogger does it and gatchaman is fired; do you say FAFO, gatchaman had it coming?

Get bent.

Nah. He's just arguing that this is all teens making jokes despite that not being the case. He's playing up the bit as usual
Haha okay, they're adults. Some in their 30s? All 11 of them are children though. Joking about rape being awesome, racism and gas chambers are our future GOPers.

Wild thing to say.

For laughing at the comedian? No. If I knew the guy I'd probably just have a conversation with him. Otherwise I'd probably just roll my eyes and go about my day.

If someone else did and I knew him id probably mediate the situation and give him a chance to unfuck himself. If not I'd think it was an over reaction to report someone for laughing at an unfunny bigoted joke.

None of these examples equate to this situation in the slightest BTW. So im not sure what you're trying to achieve
You know GearMetalSolid and me better than you know those Young Republicans, but you are happy that the Young Republicans are now covered in stones, and you are glad to Gavin Wax for exposing their private chats, and you are happy at Politico for it's selective quoting of those chats. You are confident that you have never sinned in the manner of those Young Republicans, but I know that, in my worst moments, I have sinned worse, so I won't be casting stones upon them or even applaud that it is happening.

Thousands of private messages reveal young GOP leaders joking about gas chambers, slavery and rape.

NEW YORK — Leaders of Young Republican groups throughout the country worried what would happen if their Telegram chat ever got leaked, but they kept typing anyway.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery...

Telegram chats — obtained by POLITICO and spanning more than seven months of messages among Young Republican leaders in New York, Kansas, Arizona and Vermont. The chat offers an unfiltered look at how a new generation of GOP activists talk when they think no one is listening...

The 2,900 pages of chats, shared among a dozen millennial and Gen Z Republicans between early January and mid-August, chronicle their campaign to seize control of the national Young Republican organization on a hardline pro-Donald Trump platform. Many of the chat members already work inside government or party politics, and one serves as a state senator.

Together, the messages reveal a culture where racist, antisemitic and violent rhetoric circulate freely — and where the Trump-era loosening of political norms has made such talk feel less taboo among those positioning themselves as the party’s next leaders.

Why dont republicans run on these platforms?

They're inundated with dog whistles and red herrings to obfuscate their intent and feelings

Why not just run on the nazi or conservative white supremacist platforms from the 50s? which is effectively what maga means.

Why not just be open with it?

Insanely low bar.
you are happy that the Young Republicans are now covered in stones
Never said I was happy about anything.
you are glad to Gavin Wax for exposing their private chats
I am in fact grateful that someone saw multiple calls for violence/rape and said something about it. Just like I'm glad someone exposed Jay Jones' disgusting comments about wanting his political rival killed. I'd hope any decent human being would say something when shit like that happens.

You say selective quoting as if there was any possible was those words could be presented in a way that wasn't terrible. But I do suppose they could have gone the extra mile and posted the 250+ instances of slurs along with all the other horrid quotes.
You are confident that you have never sinned in the manner of those Young Republicans
Never in my life have I said anything nearly as awful as they have.
but I know that, in my worst moments, I have sinned worse
Then you should do some serious self reflection and work on being a better person rather than defending hateful, shit people. Do better. I used to be a dick. I had to own it and work on being better. If I just lived my life going "oh well, no one is perfect, so who is anyone to judge me" I'd be a pathetic waste of space.

You need to be accountable for yourself and those you choose to ally yourself with. Otherwise you're just actively choosing to be worse

"I used to be a dick. I had to own it and work on being better."

Maybe you will never be cancelled for the time that you used to be a dick, maybe.

I used to be a dick. I can't guarantee that I won't be a dick in the future, because to err is human, and I am hoping for more mercy than to be judged as severely as possible for every word.

I am hoping for that when Gavin Wax comes, ready to cast his stone at me, that he is thwarted by the words of Ye's song.

Nothing to cancel because I owned it and turned it into positive progress. People respect that I took ownership of my actions. Crazy how that works.

Instead of hoping for mercy, take action and do better. Stop siding with people that are hateful. Be a positive change so that you dont have to be constantly fearful of being held accountable for your actions.

Yes, "N***a Heil Hitler" will certainly thwart any attempt to cancel you lol

No, I dont think Trump killed euphemism. What show are you talking about? I have a feeling your last point is a big exaggeration. Spanish speakers? Or illegal immigrants? Not the same thing.

So what does the word Nazi mean? Just racist? It doesnt actually mean your outlook and goals align with the nazi party? So why the word Nazi?

The right argues that words have no meaning because it's getting harder and harder to hide the truth.
What truth? You think their behavior is emblematic of conservatives as a whole?

And how can these things be called "jokes"? They felt comfortable saying these things because they were talking with like minds; they didn't get in trouble for saying them, they got in trouble for getting caught.
Sure, its because they got caught. I didnt say otherwise. Even a bad, unfunny joke is still a joke. You can find any manner of terrible jokes, especially racist jokes. The fact that they're racist jokes doensnt mean they arent a joke. I dunno what your distinction is.

Who says I am not taking action to do better? Maybe one of the actions I am taking is to have the humility that the best version of myself will still be human and will still err. 'The Pharisee prayed about how good he was, but the tax collector asked for God's mercy as he was a sinner. Jesus said that it was the tax collector who went home justified before God. He concluded, “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”'

A man can dream.

It was a general statement.

You can believe that while still taking accountability and holding others accountable.
The Pharisee prayed about how good he was, but the tax collector asked for God's mercy as he was a sinner. Jesus said that it was the tax collector who went home justified before God. He concluded, “Everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
Again, you can humble yourself while still taking accountability. Saying "oh I have sinned" does nothing if you still choose to live that way. You can talk about all these things but if you still support hatred then you're just lying to yourself
