Name recognition is a powerful force in our world. Which explains why they let him hang around so long to make cards look better for semi-casuals who have heard him. Doesn't fully explain the big salary though.

The other thing is that HWs in particular that they brought in from other orgs (Arlovski did of course leave for a while) just seem to get better deals. Overeem also had a good guaranteed contract, earning big money (by U Fight Cheap standards) even when not in headliners.

Out of the many scummy things the UFC does to get worked up over, a lack of a video package for a non-retiring fighter is really something to get worked up over lol
Guy is going to end up like Dan Severn fighting in the B and C leagues until he's 67.

I want to feel bad, but he's certainly made more than enough money. He just cant stop. At some point, hes just doin it to himself.

The money vs quality of opponents, Andrei had the greatest contract in UFC history. I wonder if the guy has invested for retirement, as this last run has netted him a few million but it means nothing if it's wasted.

Man I hope so too because Andrei is a true OG and I'd like for him to just quietly retire instead of getting knocked out in PFLattor or BKFC.

I think he was at least owed a real retirement fight after giving over 25 years to this sport; much of that to the ufc. His loss last night was a split decision.

Lmao you can't force a retirement package on someone that doesn't want to retire. If he doesn't want to retire and you do that then you're basically publicly celebrating cutting the guy.

he’s a well known name, he probably still brings in some viewers based off that alone. but his performances haven’t been justifying the price tag.
