¿Do you miss the Tapout era?

The sport blew up with the Brock era and Brocktober. Now its filled with the filth of canner fans..

I’d say after Bonnar/Griffin the sport really started to take off. I remember I was in vegas for Penn/Hughes 2 and it was madness all over the place for that fight.

I remember going to a bar to watch Cro Cop Vs Gonzaga in 2007 with friends and the place was fucking mobbed for the fights that evening.

Places like that were packed all over the place for many years during that era. Those very same places don’t even show the fights anymore.

Hasn't changed much. I remember being in a bar that was at max compacity for the Roxanne Modaffrei vs Talia Santos fight at UFC 266. Bouncers were doing everything they could to fight off the crowd trying to get in. People were lining the the windows out front, girls sitting on their boyfriends shoulders just to get a view. It was quite the spectacle.

Yep. Tapout, Dethrone, Affliction, Badboy, all those kick ass shirts were really cool back then. I had a couple of those.

I remember this sherdogger from that era.

pretty obvious who Tapout was competing with at the time....the beebs lol

I definitely had/have some tapout, affliction, silverstar, and one more round gear. It was more like buying a sports jersey supporting fighters you liked to me though.

Gsp, fedor, anderson, robbie, rich, and rampage walkout tees seemed cool. I'd say I miss the tapout era, but more so for the excitement of the sport at that time not the gear.

I enjoyed the show (Pretty much now Dana's Lookin for a Fight).

Bit over the top but it had some solid moments and it's own charisma...

The funniest part is that by killing off those brands they limited the fighters marketing. Everyone knew chuck or tito with the ice or flame shorts it was a way for viewers to remember fighters. It's something so simple that doesn't cost the UFC anymore money but they would rather make income off it instead. U Fight Cheap.

Old UFC started to wither a bit with the intro of WMMA, it really suffered a fatal blow with Reebok and the ban of third party sponsors.

But the true death knell wasn't until they got rid of Face the Pain.

did you post this thinking someone might actually say yes?

And if they did wear tapout in the past, who'd admit it?
I still have my Tapout track suit sir.
No adult should concern themselves with what another adult wears

Yes. The clothing was wretched, but the reality show was fun, if often stupid. For example, Punkass taking a kick to the thigh from Matt Hughes in the middle of some store for no reason. (Punkass did not enjoy that.) As someone else noted, one could keep up with who most of the fighters in the UFC were, at least. Charles did seem to have a real knack for connecting with the fighters.

I liked the fight shorts and a ton of the fighters from that era, but the shirts were pretty fuckin awful.

Needless to say, I commend and respect the fellas for all they did for both established and up-and-coming fighters.

It might be petty, but I've always been salty that they had the little I memoriam for Mask while ignoring the death of Evan Tanner, which is completely on the UFC but still...

If you never saw the show, log off sherdog now and go watch an episode or 3.

If you didn’t know there was a show, then welcome to MMA, noob :)

I miss Tapout. It let me know who was most likely to think they were really tough and act like an overconfident alpha-turd.
