¿Do you miss the Tapout era?

Tapout had to be the dumbest fuckin name for a clothing line in the history of mankind. Why not have a shirt company called rear naked choke while yur at it?

No, those shirts were made fun of. Tackiness. Condom Depot on fighters arses.

I always thought it was a strange choice of phrases too kinda like naming it "give up" or "lose".

Absolutely.

The fighters had much more of an identity back then, whether it was the unique fight trunks or the obnoxious Condom depot ads you'd see on countless asses.

It was far more individualistic, and offered the fighters a means of earning more income. The Reebok deal was disastrous and really made the UFC look tactless and flat out cheap. Not to mention the Reebok gear was far more hideous than any Tapout shirt.
Absolutely. In all honesty, I thought a very fun and unique part of the sport was seeing what new shirts fighters were going to have leading up to their next fight. It was all part of the pro wrestling-esque packing that hooked a whole new generation of fans post-TUF

I miss any era that allowed the fighters to get their own sponsorships, and make money.
Now instead of Reebok, we have Venum and the fighters don't make shit.

Something is seriously wrong with this picture, but hey...fuck it....Dana is rich.

I miss things about it. I don’t miss that brand though. Like @Rebelfett said, those guys were heavily invested in the sport and they helped out a lot of guys.

They had a show too where they traveled around sponsoring little up and comers and would hang out with them before their fight. It gave them some exposure and helped them prepare. Donald Cerrone was on it before he was picked up by the WEC. They behaved like douches, but in reality they were good guys.

I do miss Sprawl. They legit made the best shorts around. I still have two pairs that are serviceable over 12 years later. If you don’t believe me to a search. It’s a shame they went under.

The individual expression is a big part of combat sports. The 'corporatization' of the uniforms is disgusting. The fighters look like brainwashed idiot robots with them on. Dana pulled a fast one on the fighters and they bought it like a pimple faced teenager buying the new i-phone.

I miss Reem coming to the ring with the huge hammer.
Everybody looks the same now, it's absolute bullshit.

I miss guys being able to wear their own gear and sponsors. The whole Reebok and now Venom matching uniforms killed the individuality of the sport. Mma is not a team sport and the uniforms are g@y.

Is there actually any fan that likes the lame ass uniforms? If so why? Only people who like it is the people getting their pockets lined by it.

I remember going to a Strikeforce event in 2009 and literally 90% of the dudes there had TapouT shirts on, it was insane.

Dana/UFC/Corporate moneygrab. They grifted the revenue stream that has always gone to the fighters. It's also as you talk about a very fan-friendly part of the sport. The individual expression/sponsors/music part of the sport is unique. As others have talked about the team sports wear uniforms, not combat sports.

Yeah they took that revenue, and then fucked all the fighters in the ass with the Reebok/Venum deal, be cause it stripped the individuality completely.

Wish they would stop eating their fighters lunch, but what do I know.

This was one of the best eras of mma.

I love 2007-2012/13 era personally. There used to be so much buzz around the sport too. You’d go to places and they were completely packed, wall to wall, with people watching the fights.

Those very same places haven’t shown the fights in years.
