why is the option to turn the body cameras on/off even an option? make them be on at all times they are on the job.
that's scary. Let us face it, it's not like the right side of the bell curve were becoming cops in the first place. This is part of the problem. I have several friends and family that are cops (all for 15+ years), they said the hiring standards have been lowered in order to attract people to the job (and for diversity). The result is people who should not be cops becoming cops.

I almost feel like an associate's degree makes you more stupider than a high school grad. Not entirely true in most cases in the present day. A lot of your big city departments are more relaxed on qualifications because let's face it, they have thousands of spots to fill. Most of your medium sized departments (50-150 sworn) that make up the majority of America require at the very least an Associate's Degree if not a BS.

shitty thing is everyone should be learning scientific method and logic. Our criminal justice system is based on slightly more modern paradigms than "if she floats, she's a witch."Well, quite honestly it's just a show for the public of "look how educated" our cops are. Education doesn't make you a good cop. Some people are cut out for and some aren't.
Funny how the body cams always happen to be off when this stuff happens...'body cams not turned on' should be an automatic something.
not wrongful death conviction, but something.

they're always off the same way your wife perceives that you always leave the toilet seat up. In reality the culture is there's poor compliance using them and there definitely should be penalties for that.Funny how the body cams always happen to be off when this stuff happens...
Getting one back, hey? Sherfront, assemble.
No doubt but it seems to be a common pattern. This one there was multiple cameras and none were on? Regardless of what happened, that's not acceptable, they should be fired regardless of the outcome of the investigation for violating policythey're always off the same way your wife perceives that you always leave the toilet seat up. I feel guilty liking this post because that is absolutely shameful stuff, but just wow
That's so idiotic, what a ridiculous design and excuse. A camera battery lasts a couple hours and costs like 10 bucks. There's no reason it can't run full timeThey should be fired/sued for turning off their mandatory body cams.
edit: Bodycams need to be turned on, default is off but still.

Wow indeed. Just part of how we got to where we are now. Check this on the officer who shot Tamir Rice. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2014/12/cleveland_police_officer_who_s.html#incart_m-rpt-1I feel guilty liking this post because that is absolutely shameful stuff, but just wow
