Khabib is a one trick pony in the same vein as Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey. All 3 are not well-rounded but they aren't 1 dimensional either, they are 2 dimensional. They all have great wrestling/judo with a deadly ground game. Rousey had her submissions while Khabib and Lesnar have their GnP and submissions. However, the way to stop all of these fighters is simple, keep the fight standing and punch/kick them in the face. Easier said than done. However, once someone does it and breaks the fighters aura of invincibility they can start losing.

Look at Lesnar after losing to Cain he then lost to Overeem and retired. Overeem is the 1 person who stopped Lesnar's TD's 100% and Cain was taken down but was able to get back up very quickly and received little if any damage on the ground. Lesnar retired after that albeit retiring to fight Hunt and then DC.

Rousey looked invincible until Holly Holm took her out by avoiding her clinch so she couldn't get taken down and continually punched and kicked Rousey in the head. After that Amanda Nunes made mincemeat of Ronda. Rousey retired after that.

Khabib vs. Conor is a very simple fight and comes down to whoever can impose their will first. Either Conor avoids Khabib's TDs and eventually knocks him down with a strike and finishes it with GnP for the TKO win or Khabib gets Conor down and finishes him.

If Conor is able to strike and move effectively and avoid Khabib's TDs he could make it look easy like the Alvarez fight and win a devastating victory against Khabib and setting up the "simple" gameplan that everyone about on how to beat Khabib but was never able to accomplish. Avoid the TD and strike. If Khabib loses in that fashion than Khabib's next opponent maybe able to do the same thing and you start seeing Khabib lose 2 in a row.

Who thinks Khabib could lose to Conor and then start losing more fights rather than losing one and quickly coming back and staying on top?

Conor is one who keeps losing and he's way more one dimensional than Khabib. He's literally just a walking left hand. Khabib has wrestling and grappling. He can win by GNP stoppage, submission or decision.

Conor has to put him out cold, and he'd even be taking a huge risk to jump on Khabib to finish him.

Khabib has more ways to win, and more time to do it. Conor has 2 rounds until he loses power.

No, because Khabib has great coaches, and doesn't have an inflated ego to the point to where he thinks he can stand with the best striker in the division. Khabib's gonna make it simple, and just grapple. He's not gonna gamble, and strike.

He's gonna take Conor down, and smash him.

That the living funk.

If anyone is one dimensional here, it's Conor.

they are both amazing in what they do, so it comes down to who can impose their gameplan.

Conor is the one getting Rousey'd, khabib is a better striker than Conor is a grappler.

Both guys have one clear specialty. And both are excellent within their area of expertise.

No, Khabib will not be exposed if Conor beats him. He has ordinary striking. That doesn’t need to be exposed. So long as his grappling stays on point and his chin stays intact, Khabib will be a top LW whether or not Conor smokes him.

No, Khabib won't get exposed because going into the fight everybody already knows hes not a strong striker and can't go toe to toe with Conor. If anything, he was exposed in his fight with Michael Johnson where he got tagged pretty badly. Honestly though, Conor is as one dimensional if not more one dimensional than Khabib. The likelihood of Conor winning this fight by anything other than KO or TKO is pretty much non existent whereas Khabib can win by sub or tko

Imagine McGregor KO's him in 13 seconds.

ALL of sherdog :

Does Khabib suddenly think he is a masterful striker?

I hear Khabib beats boxers all the time.

Seriously though... I'm not sure either winning would expose the other. Khabib knows he can't stand with Conor. Conor knows he can't grapple Khabib. It could be a great fight or it could be a snoozefest.

The loser is still a top 5 fighter at LW. The winner is clearly the top LW (who hopefully gives Tony a shot).

I dont think so you have to have a great deal of fight iq or a great promoter/fixer to get to 26 -0, think he would bounce back

I do expect him to lose his next fight after Conor. Mystic Lockard predicts it ends up being against Kevin Lee.

I could see them being similar in that Conor could time Khabib's approaches and use strikes to prevent him from closing the distance.
I doubt Khabib would react to the loss in the same way. I think he'd either retire or reapply himself. I can't see him coming back in no mental state to compete like Rhonda did.
