Why has the HW division been so dead for years?

but only about 1% of all NCAA football players make it to the NFL. which means there are a vast, vast amount of NCAA football players who never make it in professional sports, 99% of them.
So your argument is that college football players, who make no money at all, make less than professional MMA fighters?
Tell me more lol

almost none of these 'athletic, big guys' become pro athletes. truly, nearly none of them.

True but unless you're a top 5 HW, you'll get less brain damage and make more money working at a used car dealership.

People play college ball because it gives them infinite access to vagina in its physical prime and gives you the chance to make the NFL.

UFC, you gotta be top 5. Otherwise, you wreck your body and get brain damage, and no career prospects after retirement, for less money than you'd make selling used cars.

And even then, you'll probably only be top 5 for a year or 2 max then it's back to being broke and brain dead.

not only is that false (450k NFL minimum, 150k less than Stipe's per fight purse), but only about 1% of all NCAA football players make it to the NFL. which means there are a vast, vast amount of NCAA football players who never make it in professional sports, 99% of them.

so no, there isnt much money in being athletic or big period.
i guess big dudes just don't like getting hit in the face by other big dudes, I bet the majority of hw Olympic wrestlers don't even think about joining mma

The feeder system into the NFL is massive and established which is why they suck up the majority of talent. Put it this way, theoretically if you are a young big athletic guy your life could be the following without ever making money from football;

You enter high school and join the football team. You are automatically part of the cool clique. You get to be in prep rallies have your school watch you on the field on a Friday night, go to afterparties and maybe even fuck the prom queen. From there you can get a full scholarship to a University where things get even better for your social life. You can end up playing in front of 100,000 people, be on national tv, more parties and girls. These are all the guaranteed things even if you never make a dime from it and get picked up from the NFL. Contrast this with the life of a mma fighter and it's easy to see why sports like football suck up a lot of talent.

Are you suggesting Overeem's salary is average among HWs? Cause that NFL linebacker sitting on the bench is making an average level salary...

If you want to talk minimum salaries, NFL slaughters MMA. And since most guys will never get to the Overeem level of success, for purely financial reasons doesn't that make football a smarter move than MMA?
True, I even think Overeem is the highest paid HW in UFC now when Brock is gone.

What?

Are you kidding? Lmao

No, my point is almost nobody makes any money in any professional sport, because almost nobody makes their living that way, even the very best athletes. And...

its actually not true. overeem is not even champ and makes double the nfl minimum salary per fight, which isnt guaranteed and can be pulled at any time throughout a season.
Overeem has been fighting for 15 years and is a hall of fame fighter. That's the top 1%. That's what it takes to not be a brain dead, physically shot broke person with no further career prospects after a UFC career.

Nobody said average, they said the last guy on the bench makes more than every UFC heavyweight. That's false

The guy on the bench makes more than all but a few UFC heavyweights. And he pulls way more pussy. And in college, even if he didn't make the NFL, he banged 5 new 18-22 year olds a week and was worshipped as a god, and got a free college education. He also gets a job in investment banking or high-paying sales after graduating college because people like football athletes.

Typical UFC guy can't even get laid on Blind Date and retires with brain damage and no money and no degree and no career prospects.

Oh ok. So your point is that unemployed people make no money. That's even better.

Not gonna argue with any of it except a free education lol. The connections and network are what he gains, cuz D1 athletes don't get much of an education

HW has always been weak. It just had more popular fighters before

What a fucking moronic statement. You obviously don't know how martial arts work.
There is such a thing as mileage.

It's pretty incredible how a few of the old guard has managed to hang on, but it's pretty clear that physically they have fallen off hard. They get away with it because of experience and how thin the division is. Young Mirko, Fedor, Big Nog, Sergei, Lil Nog, Barnett so on were sharks. Even JDS was much better 6 years ago. Cain probably too. Hunt is basicly the same fighter he was 10 years ago, with worse striking, more injuries, much slower, better TDD and a worse chin. Ubereem would also destroy current Reem. Werdum is probably the only one who might do well against his younger self, but he is starting to fall apart too.

We still have top 10 guys from the pre-Fedor era like Mark Hunt, Overeem, and Werdum. This was not the case back in 2005! There were tons of awesome HW prospects. And MMA is even bigger now than it was back then. And it seems like the HWs back then were even more athletic than today.

Every other weight class has more top fighters. All new guys. You don't get guys that were at the top 5 years ago, let alone guys from 2000 - 2005! And guys at every weight class are younger and more physically fit than ever before.

Are there great HWs out there? Does the UFC just not have the best fighters anymore?
What's going on?
Strict Drug Testing keeps good fighters from getting big enough to be Heavyweight without being a fatass.

HW has ALWAYS sucked and been shallow. Also Hunt, werdum, and AO have improved drastically since their Pride days…you know improvements does happen???

I know improvements do happen but I don't know how they does happen.

Because Lesnar is juiced and suspended, Cain is always hurt, Miocic wants to make champion money and never fights. All the other name fighters are old. Too bad Jon Jones will never fight the HW's, that would be something!
