What is our military like compared the China and Russia?

We are pretty damn good. We lack quantity, but we make for it in quality. We also have force projection capabilities that they can only dream of. We have an overwhelming advantage in air and naval supremacy, and we use those to cover our deficits in ground supremacy. We may have an edge in armor and artillery, but they each have many, many ground soldiers than we do. We possess a technological advantage though.

Take on the world? Come on, do you actually believe that? You struggled in Vietnam, you struggled in Irag and you got lucky in WW2 that you were on the other side of the world.

But on more individual level, an average Ukrainian soldier is obviously better and more experienced than an American soldier. Now when it comes to German invasion there are actually 3 ways of looking at it.

The Western Way: Soviets won because of winter, Lend-Lease and because Hitler did X but he should have done Y.

This is where we look at German invasion in a more broader historical/philosophical perspective. I believe it is more objective way of looking at it. I will keep it short although one can write a whole book about that.

So in short: Germany was invading a backward shithole country that just lost million upon millions (let that sink in... MILLIONS of PEOPLE just in 20 years or so) of people do to WW1, Civil War, Starvation, Repressions and Emigration, further more Soviet Union was scientifically backwards, i mean look at Lysenkoism. We are not done yet, military Soviet Union was 2/10 just look at the failure of Winter War.

So all in all we got a shithole country, with shit economy (communism does not work), shit military, with shitty culturally bankrupt people (homosovieticus culture was shit)... and to top all that this big pile of shit had shitty times for the last 20 years.

What is the logical conclusion here? What would any respectable military commander/scientists conclude?

The fact that Trump won the election regardless of media brainwashing and overall political climate in US is indeed tells me something about American people, and that is that you are not only free in actions but also in thought, well at least the right leaning americans are. So i am all for being friends and working together

Another thing I'd think to add is that people often forget our intelligence community too. Not only is our military well ahead of every other nation, our ability to gather intelligence is second to none. Truly amazing what our spooks can accomplish when the gloves come off.

So not only can our guys lay waste to the enemy, we have the means to gather that actionable intelligence unlike any other nation too.

I would argue that this is really comparing apples to oranges in the sense that what we do with intelligence is wholly different than other countries. I can expand later, but Mossad loves to turn intel into kinetic ops, whereas the Russians love the use of propaganda. The French are probably the most aggressive in terms of collection, but then it goes to politicians’ desks, not turning into anything tangible.

The Russians, Chinese, and us are best at cyber espionage. Israel has badass HUMINT. More later.

Our advantage for decades now, is largely based in logistics. Our ability to sustain long military operations just about anywhere in the world makes all the difference.

You should see foreign militaries when they deploy for war games or joint missions, it doesn't matter if it is the UK, Russia, Germany, whoever, they look like amateur fighting forces next to the US, because our fighting force has everything they need, and are drilled to quick, efficient, deployment.

US rolls into an area that they will set up a base, and it looks like an army of ants building a colony. Russians or brits rolls into a new area to set up a base, and everyone stands around waiting to be told what to do.

Bravo. This is absolutely true. I would argue that a lot of foreign militaries (at least their ground forces) tend to not train specifically enough. They don't drill their tasks and subtasks sufficiently, while we tend to take a more scientific approach. In order to ambush someone, we practice movements (both land nav and unit movement drills), react to contact, communications skills (hand and arm signals, how to fill and use a radio), doing short and long halts, setting in the ambush line, doing good 5-point contingency plans, actions on the objective, weapons training, setting the claymore, good reporting, and timely exfiltration. There are a bunch of other ones too, but that's just off the top of my head. Other armies tend to not work all the details, making them less effective.

I wanna weigh in on the whole Russia situation, Napoleon the greatest commander in history failed, the German Wehrmacht one of the best armies with the best officers and soldiers of their time also failed, but both Napoleon and Germany were still fighting in a low tech warfare era where combat took place in both sides hauling hundreds of thousands of soldiers and artillery towards eachother.

This is an age of tech and fast ground taking strategy, air superiority brings land warfare advantage, the US military can bring intel, destroy strategic targets everywhere in the country with airforce, psyop the population, insert clandestine special forces to sabotage and assasinate, and then when the country is falling to pieces land and deploy entire regiments, so Russia or/and China would fall, this is a whole new era of war, its important to know history but you need to understand context

We'd mess them up. Aside from having better weaponry and equipment, we have pretty good people too. I'm not sure if being a guardsman is still looked down upon from the active duty side, but from my experience the guard guys bring a lot of experience. People adapt very quickly. Was deployed with the PA guard from 05-06, and their infantry guys performed extremely well. You had guys that in a span of 6 months were working normal jobs to hardened soldiers. Now, a Russian soldier will undoubtedly be tougher than an Iraqi, but they won't break us.

You all forget there is something called military doctrine.

For example: US Navy has uncontested naval superiority and power projection since WWII.
Russian naval doctrine does not seek to be a parallel or equal in terms of numbers, tonnage, quality or characteristics, because the US has a head start of decades, a much larger economy and a stupidly large budget.
Thus, they planned on asimetric doctrine to counter it. An example would be their missile cruisers. If a USN carrier group plans to attack Russia, a single cruiser and a few Russian escorts will face them. They will launch their whole compliment of missiles at the carrier group, expecting to be sunk in retaliation. The USN hopes that their point defense systems and other countermeasures will save them. So it's a trade of a cruiser for destroying or crippling an entire carrier group.
Of course the USN is very quiet on their interception and counter measures capabilites, but there are many cases of USN vessels being caught pants down by old Russian fighter jets making passes over them without any alarms going off.

Another example along those lines would be the super cavitation torpedoes that Russian submarines and vessels have, like the Shkval. They essentially can go faster than what any ship can avoid. So a single old submarine can destroy critical vessels like an aircraft carrier.
