What happened to the new breeds of heavyweights?

HW gets shit on a lot but given the limited options I think the UFC did alright by signing guys like Alexander Volkov, Bilyal Makhov, Francis Ngannou, Ruslan Magomedov, Derek Lewis & Curtis Blaydes to the aging HW division.

They need to get Minakov and Ivanov. Even guys like Pavlovich and Smoldarev are good prospects.

WE are left with Lewises and Brownes, and Stipe at the top of the food chain.

People shit on Fedor's opponents after PRIDE, but HMC would push Lewis's shit into another dimension. And Brett Rogers and Lewis would be a toss up fight if it happened before Barnett, Overeem, Fedor stole his soul, and when he was undefeated. Talking about getting fed to the wolves, lol.

And btw, before people start ripping on HMC, HMC actually had a tumor removed from his head, then declined the testoerone therapy, that was recommended for a year or so, then started looking like he got cancer, lost lots of muscle mass and then started getting ktfo at Bop Sapp level. HMC who fought Fedor was BEFORE all that went down, and who took Fedor down with Ssirm techniques. TWICE. Only fighter in Fedor's career who took him down from the clinch. Ever. ( And as you know I think Fedor is the GOAT)

I always thought it was as hilarious as Rousey hype when people pretended that MMA was some internet technology and people just started magically getting better over the span of a decade or something.
Did you really say that HMC would beat Lewis? Hahaha...

Dude, Lewis would probably beat Coleman and Fujita. Laughably some of Fedor's best wins.

Dude, why are you always in my threads and shit on Fedor

I'm pretty satisfied with the Heavyweight division, I don't know why everyone is constantly complaining saying the division is weak, I honestly want to know what you people expect out of the Heavyweight division?

Derrick Lewis is 18-4, 5-0 in the UFC
Rusland Magomedov is 14-1, 3-0 in the UFC
Francis Ngannou is 10-1, 5-0 in the UFC
Marcel Fortuna 9-1, 1-0 in UFC
Justin Ledet 8-0, 2-0 in the UFC

Then we got new comers to the UFC with veteran experience like Alex Volkov, Aleksia Oleniak, Curtis Blaydes... Undefeated former Bellator Heavyweight champ Vitaly Minakov is supposed to be in talks with the UFC; all this and I haven't even mentioned any of the long time division staples and or UFC veterans. I think the division is very exciting and competitive.

His name is Derrick Lewis. Also many heavyweights rather do other sports using their big athletic stature than mma

"New breed" actually wasn't that bad of a description of the HW division from around 2010. JDS, Cain and Carwin all debuted around the same time (2008 iirc) and the three would dominate the division. Lesnar came around that time too and despite the lack of experience he looked like he had tons of potential. All 4 of those guys held the belt at some point (or interim) and JDS and Cain are still very relevant today.

But yeah, HW NOW is back to being pretty barren when it comes to prospects.

FAct is HW today would get demolished by the HW division of ten years ago...

Fedor
Nog
Cro cop
Werdum
Barnett
AA
Sylvia
Sergei
Mir
Couture

In there primes would run a train on today's top 10

Most of those guys are specialists in different martial arts before they are MMA fighters. Fedor in Sambo, Nog in BJJ, CroCop in kickboxing, Werdum in BJJ, Barnett in Catch Wrestling, Couture in Freestyle Wrestling...

The HW fighters of today are failed athletes from other sports who picked up fighting late in life.

everything went down hill when they cut Tim Sylvia. Greatest HW ever in UFC history. No modern HW has ever defended the belt more times than Big Time, face it..

If Cain didn't get injured we could've had a new GOAT. Imagine if he won a rematch with Werdum and beat Stipe. He'd be fighting Ngannou and be remembered as an all time great. We could've even had a Cain-Jones superfight since he's a small HW. I still love him, though.

When the heck was Fujita ever considered one of Fedors best wins? And Coleman was a killer back in 2004 and earlier.

YEs after he got his brain tumor removed, refused trt recommended for a year or so, then lost huge muscle mass, then that happened. Ass beat?

Someone did NOT watch that fight lol

Lewis would get shreded.
Brain tumor didn't matter. He was and always was an attraction and nothing more. Struve
Beats him him dead

Werdum got knocked out by a green JDS . AA got knocked out by a Costco employee,Barnett got beat by Cormier who just started MMA and Brock destroyed both Mir and Couture. All these loses were in their prime

I want to see more posts about Todd Duffee in this thread.
