Crime What did the cops do wrong today Megathread Vol. 6 ? (who knows, lots of cop threads)

Off duty police corporal who's a school resource officer punched a delivery driver for honking at him and yelling at him about being on his phone at a stop light. Luckily, the guy who was punched was driving a vehicle with a front and back facing dashcam, or the cop would've been able to put the blame on him for the entire incident.

PD tried to cover the entire thing up until a FOIA request revealed the incident.

The cop allegedly got a five day unpaid suspension, but the department refuses to talk about the incident.

The guy who got punched should've gone to the media with the footage immediately. Publicly embarrassing these departments is the only way to make them actually discipline problem officers.

This pisses me off. An officer of the law that can’t control his behavior to the extent that he punches another motorist for yelling at him, should not be a cop. We used to call this “contempt of cop” where some ego driven asshole cop can’t handle any pushback. Not to mention, this is a school cop, who is even more of a role model in the law enforcement community for their work with kids.

Here's another example of why federal grants for DUI arrests, that aren't contingent on convictions, actually hurt the public.

I keep seeing more and more stories about individual cops who frivolously arrest people for DUI.

This cop in Commerce, Gerogia just got outed for multiple false DUI arrests, including one where a guy whom he arrested blew 0.00 TEN seperate times on three different breathalyzers but was charged with DUI anyway.

Here's another story where the same cop falsely arrested a soldier for fentanyl possession because of a faulty roadside test on a bottle of melatonin, but the real issue here is that the cop thought that he was justified in searching the soldier's car for over an hour to find something because he had temporary tags on a new car.

This cop got fired, but the interview in the video with DUI instructor who trained him is laughable. Thinks that these are "innocent" mistakes despite how devastating a DUI arrest can be even without a conviction.

I don't know how anybody could be that clueless about the type of harm that they're inflicting on citizens by continuously arresting sober drivers for being impaired.

Charges kept getting thrown out for his arrests. The cop and his supervisors should've taken steps to mitigate what he was doing long before the local media started running stories about him.

Either they're all too stupid to bag groceries, much less carry badges, or they didn't care because of the federal grant money for the arrests. The latter is more plausible.

This rookie deputy in Tennessee accidentally drove into a river and killed himself and the suspect that he had handcuffed in his backseat.

What the SD and local media are glossing over is that he was texting his wife about his first arrest while he was driving right before he ran off of the road.

You can see the press conference where the sheriff talks about the texts to and from the deputy's phone at the time of the accident in this video.

Sean-Paul Reyes from Long Island Audit FOIA'd the full BWC footage from the cops who responded to this report, and it's pretty ridiculous.

Even though they're from a different department and had a video of him punching someone in the street without any self-defense excuse, they treat him with professional courtesy and there isn't even a thought about them arresting him.

This guy was off duty and out of his jurisdiction. He should've been treated like any normal person would.

The whole interaction seems less serious than the typical traffic infraction stop.

This thing would've been totally covered up if the media hadn't got a hold of the story.

Lol@that fat f*ckin Cop asking if the guy can be charged for sh*t he lied about, and for the guy not bowing down to his badge.

Denver's finest Swat Team cosplays as Seal Team Vagina, rolls up in an MRAP on 73yo Mother Abigail from The Stand to get back a stolen vehicle containing several firearms allegedly stashed in her driveway.

They probably regretted not bringing SMAWs and Switchblade Kamikaze Drones after discovering that the grandmother answered the door in her house coat and shower cap.

Many of these post the cops should be fired at the least. What I would like to see is a bill passed that would remove any money or help at a federal level for any department that knowing hires are retains a officer that was fired from another department.

Nah. Burying the lead there. Plenty of very bad dudes do shit out of grandma's house. The thing that's actually wrong is that they tore the shit out of her house and other stuff on her property that was outside the scope of their warrant.

The uniformed policemen always make it a fair fight. Don't they?

Fair fight? What do you think a cops job? It's not about your idea of some school yard fair fight.

They are making an arrest for a criminal offense.

Now as to the video. If the person being arrested is resisting then they can us a certain amount of force to over come that resistance.

It's hard to tell from the video but it appears the person being arrested has their hands under their body and are refusing to put them out and behind their back. The cops have no idea if he has a weapon under there also.

They can hit him in certain places to get him to give up his hands. It appears one cop is hitting him in the upper arms and the other cop is kneeing him in the leg which is allowed until the can get him to give up his hands. If they are not hitting where they are allowed then by all means hold them responsible.

Where in your mind was this supposed to be some kind of school yard "fair" fight.
