Elections Republican house: no border deal till trump or republican president

Republicans are the devil and the biggest cry babies ever.
You've been here since 2012. Is this your first time in the WR?

The biggest cry baby depends on the week around here . . . there are plenty of democrats who give the biggest republican whiners a run for their money.

Not surprised that’s what you took from it . Carrying on
Republicans have lied over and over again, why would Dems trust Republicans to fund Ukraine if not
AOC is that you?? homan already wrecked her.

Not seen the video and AOC is known for saying stupid shit, but he is not the director or acting director or whatever, he was ICE director for a year under Trump, not exactly a neutral party.

Uh no. Abbot isnt about border security so much as political stunts, and its costing lives. The Federal Government is suing over doing stupid sh*t like actually preventing BP from doing their job to the point where women and children end up drowning:

Kinda also flies in the face of the supposed "Pro Life, da kidz!! Da kidz!!" bullsh*t as well.
'Political stunts'. Oh the irony. Dems lied about the Rio Grande incident.

Americans aren't "smart enough" to know who's entering. Evidently they'll 'soon know' who this guy is though. Welcome to America.

Why didn't the Republicans just accept the marginal win and revisit for more stringent measures later?

Now it seems like both parties don't really give a shit about actually solving the problem and only want to use the problem as a wedge issue to get votes.

Because it wasn't a win at all for them. It's a desperate political stunt by the Dems, in hopes of getting them a win in an election year. How is anyone supposed to believe that the Dems actually give a fuck about border security, as they try to stop Texas from laying down the law at the border?

Fuck 'em. It's less than a year away from the election. If Republicans win, they can draw up their own bill, instead of being beholden to this one.

But the Republicans were the ones who were initially pushing for it and delaying aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. They negotiated for months to get this in.

I saw some of the stuff in the immigration bill. A lot of it was good and a step in the right direction.

They could have just accepted it and then pass more shit later on. It's not a foregone conclusion that Trump will win.

If Biden wins, he's just going to veto whatever immigration bill that passes.

Now it's just to get political brownie points instead of actually solving the problem. This was one of the most sweeping immigration reforms since the 80's. Now the chance is gone due to politics. How gross.

It's not that both parties don't care. The Dems want a solution that focuses on faster processing times but don't want to spend money on a wall or physical enforcement tools they think are not effective. Some people disagree with them but they've been consistent in their approach for a while now. I used to think the GOP was all in on closing the border to illegals and using the Dems softer stance to bludgeon them to death politically. Now, the GOP is basically saying continue the problem for another year so they can campaign on it.

I don't think anyone can truly say that both parties don't care anymore.

The GOP's alone here. They want to campaign on the existence of the problem rather than campaign on how they solved it. And that tells us that they don't really care about the problem except for how it plays on tv.

Tangentially -- is there nothing else that they can run on other than the border? Is it so important to their elections that they would delay addressing it for an entire year?

Do they really believe that their position with the American people is so weak that they need to let another year of illegal immigrants enter the nation. "There are too many illegal immigrants...but we can't win an election unless we keep letting them in."

It's early but this appears to be what they've got: 1) Biden's senile (which appears to have traction); and 2) Immigration is a problem...just not enough of a problem to fix it immediately. With a possibility of throwing in "We don't need European allies."

There has to be more to their messaging at some point.
