I just finished Smackdown...that's the first time I can remember in a long time someone beating Becky's ass and actually getting cheered for it.

Asuka would be the most natual babyface on the SmackDown women's roster, if she didn't share locker room with Becky Lynch. But I think she's basically Japanese Becky in the respect that she's popular, but got booked like shit, which only forced an even more positive reaction because there's that element of "No, we like this one".

A few days ago, there was the story going around that Vince was "very impressed" with her reactions, particularly the segments where Becky was picking her replacement, and where they were announcing the battle royal, so decided to renew her push. The thing is, this is Vince we're talking about, a guy who one week said "God damn, we have Tamina, she's Snuka's daughter, why isn't she featured more?!" then the next week, said "Why are we focussing so much on Tamina?! She's not getting any reactions!"
