Nate Diaz's submission win of Conor McGregor is misleading.

The one thing people would realize real quick in a Khabib vs Connor fight is that Khabib has a legit granite chin. He's been hit by several huge shots in his career and he's walked right through them unphased.

People who hate Conor really underrate his ground game. It's just what they do. He could choke out Khabib and they would still saw it was pure luck and his ground game still sucks.
Well the counter argument is what if Khabib one punch KO McGregor. Then you think ya neither is likely but would stir up this bee hive.

Conor's ground game is fine.
Hmm, you may be right! His ground game doesn't look too bad when you put it that way.

anyone who has watched a lot of Conor fights knows he is bad on the ground. It's pretty obvious.

Howbout you make this thread when he actually signs a fight

People saying Conor has no ground game and that Khabib will smash him because Khabib is the best grappler at lightweight are basing this on the false premise that Nate easily submitted Conor.

It wasn't Nate's ground game that beat Conor. Nate had to wear Conor down first and tire him out during the standup. He then exhausted him by landing hits after hits and Conor had no answer to that.

At that point, Nate could have finished Conor in any way he wanted, and that just happened to be via submission so you can't say that Conor has no ground game based on that alone.

Khabib will be absolutely zero threat to Conor standing up. And fact of the matter is that Khabib has went to a decision in 6 of his 10 fights in the UFC so what makes you think he can hurt Conor iron chin McGregor?

Seriously, Khabib will take down Conor for one round AT BEST and then get KOed Mini Mendes style.
You conor nuttjobs...Compared to the level Nate is,conor has Zero groundgame..that ok?

"Nate had to gas him out first".

Nope, Nate rarely goes for takedowns in fights if you've ever watched a Nate fight you know he's about the standup.

Conor made the most amateur move ever trying to take Nate down and Nate made easy work of him from there.

Well, Nate is a high level black belt.

I think only either really dumb, biased or people without grappling experience believe Conor has no ground game based on that. Sometimes It just fits the narrative as well.

It is what It is. Not everyone Is going to be balanced In their approach to these things.

Khabib and Nate have different styles. They're not very comparable at all. Khabib is a combination of wrestling, judo and sambo. In straight up jiu jitsu / submissions..he's nowhere near the same threat as Nate on top. Not even close.

He will maul you like no other though, but he probably Isn't going to submit you unless you're a white belt like MJ.

Because if he had any ground game we'd have seen it by now in some form or another. The only thing we really have to go by is him being submitted and looking terrible on the ground.
We have actually. There's video of him grappling at submission tournaments, grappling In multiple fights throughout his comeup, little moments where he demonstrates competency. People like Eddie bravo giving him props along with other grapplers acknowledging that he has jits.

He's got jits, quite underrated honestly..from a defensive standpoint. Been training with a Marcelo garcia( one of the top 1-2 pure BJJ practitioners of all time along with Rickson) black belt as well for the past few years so presumably It's only continued to evolve.

He's a solid brown

We all know Conor is not a fish out of water when it comes to the grappling department, but it's an entire different game when a guy like Khabib is on top of you. If Conor is not able to stop Khabib's takedown then Khabib will maul him IMO unless Conor can tie him up, conserve energy and hopefully Khabib lose enough gas where Conor will be able to stop the TDs and start lighitng up Khabib on the feet. I think it's a interesting match up as Conor could knock him out silly before Khabib even gets a chance to take him down. I give the slight edge to Khabib though.

Khabib went for the take down shortly after this bum gif. Would have been ko'd trying to stand with mj much longer. Conor by ko in the first minute, but khabib needs to beat Tony or Lee first not a real estate agent by decision.

The real estate agent who.... beat lee?

Last time I checked, Conor feared for his life and panic wrestled and got choked.
yeah

would have been a tko if conor had gone in for a panic takedown
Ya know, I never thought about it, but the panic shot was probably the best thing he could have done. Imagine the shit the master-class striker Conor would be getting if he lost to Nate Diaz by knockout.

He gassed because he spent too much energy trying to take Conor down fearing for his life of that left hand. But dread it, run from it. Destiny still arrives.

It being the only fight Mendes has gassed in suggests it was due to having no fight camp and no endurance training.

So you don't think its possible for Khabib to wear and tire Conor out on the ground?? If he takes him down for 2 roudns straight and does what Khabib does, you don't think Conor will be in the same position as he was vs Nate? In fact I think it would be even worse because vs Nate we was mostly on offense and punched himself out, vs Khabib on the ground he wont have much offense and will only be defending. It's really the same thing, one guy did it standing and the other would do it on the ground and you get the same result in Conor being worn down and tired

Conor has ground game, but not enough to compete with the likes of Nate, Mendes OR Khabib. He isn't great on the ground.

That being said, Khabib isn't great on the feet.

striker vs. grappler matchup... Doesn't mean Conor will definitely win.

Khabib is very hittable but has good chine too... should be interesting, if it ever happens.
