Fox to Pick Up Mark Millar's Space Fantasy Comic STARLIGHT

Starlight-Mark-Millar-Dragonlord.jpg

Twentieth Century Fox is in negotiations to pick up Starlight, an upcoming comic from Wanted and Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar. Simon Kinberg, who worked on X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, will write the script and produce the adaptation. The comic, drawn by Goran Parlov and due to be published by Image in March, is described by Millar as Flash Gordon meets The Dark Knight Returns.

It centers on a space hero who saved the universe 35 years ago but came back to Earth, where no one believed his fantastic stories. He settled down, got married, had kids and got old, but then is called back for one last adventure when his old rocket shows up.

The deal marks a reteaming between Kinberg and Millar. Kinberg is producing an adaptation of Millar's Kindergarten Heroes, which has Carter Blanchard on board writing the script. It also keeps Millar in the studio fold, as Fox is behind Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of Millar's miniseries The Secret Service, which stars Colin Firth.

I feel like an old perv saying this but that Shailene Woodley chick is a damn attractive young woman.

i feel very conflicted about the Godzilla trailer using that music from 2001. don't know if it's stealing excellence in a good or bad way.

EPISODE VII Script Not Yet Finished; Possible $200 Mil Budget

Star-Wars-Episode-VII-Unofficial-Logo-Dragonlord.jpg

While production is poised to begin on Star Wars: Episode VII early next year, it appears that there’s still a bit of script work left to do for the highly anticipated sequel. Oscar-winning Little Miss Sunshine scribe Michael Arndt had a treatment prepared when Disney first purchased Lucasfilm last year. It was announced a few months ago that director J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan were taking over scripting duties on Episode VII, and now Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn has revealed that he hasn’t yet received the script.

Speaking at a Variety breakfast, Horn told the crowd that he expects to see the script in January, and until then they don’t have an official budget—though he noted that they expect it to be at least $200 million. It’s telling that the screenplay has not yet been official submitted even though it’s been in development with Abrams’ involvement for nearly a year. This signifies that Abrams and Kasdan are doing extensive work on the script, and indeed Badass Digest reports that the Arndt script was thrown out and the two started “more or less” from scratch.

First Teaser Trailer for Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR

Interstellar-Logo-1212-Dragonlord.jpg

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for director Christopher Nolan’s new film Interstellar. The sci-fi pic stars Matthew McConaughey and revolves around a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole “to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.” Though this teaser trailer features very, very little footage from the still in-production film, it’s a surprisingly moving piece that draws on the human spirit’s drive to keep moving forward.

In the future, governments and economies across the globe have collapsed, food is scarce, NASA is no more, and the 20th Century is to blame. A mysterious rip in spacetime opens and it's up to whatever is left of NASA to explore and offer up hope for mankind. The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, David Oyelowo, Wes Bentley, John Lithgow, Ellen Burstyn, Topher Grace, David Gyasi, Mackenzie Foy, Bill Irwin, Timoth

Rumor: Cody Walker to Film Paul Walker's Final Scenes in FAST 7?

Cody-Caleb-Paul-Walker-Dragonlord.jpg

The Daily Mail is reporting that Paul Walker's younger brother, Cody Walker (above pic, from left), has been asked to step in for him to film the final scenes for Fast & The Furious 7. The 40-year-old star was on a break from filming at the time of his death in a shocking car crash two weeks ago. And in a poignant tribute to the star, MailOnline can reveal Cody Walker, 25, who has worked as a movie stuntman, is set to take his place in the latest installment of the hit franchise.

Following Paul's death, Universal Pictures announced it was their duty to shut down production - adding they were dedicated to providing support to Paul's immediate family and our extended Fast & Furious family of cast, crew, and filmmakers. A source close to production said today: 'Producers had a string of meetings right after Paul's death. They soon realized they needed someone who looked like Paul to finish the movie and that's when they approached his nearly identical brother, Cody.'

The source added: 'They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close up they can CGI it later on. If Cody agrees it's because he wants to honor his brother's memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving.'

New International Trailer for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2

rwnatz.jpg

Sony announced some big plans for its Spider-Man universe by way of Venom and Sinister Six films late last night, but first on the docket is director Marc Webb’s sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2. A new international trailer has gone online, and it plays up the more comedic aspects of the film instead of focusing on the multitude of villains like the first domestic trailer. The strongest aspect of Webb’s 2012 reboot was the smaller character moments. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Sally Field, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, B.J. Novak, and Chris Cooper. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D on May 2, 2014.

Synopsis: It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

Peter O'Toole, the wry, fun-loving star who played the dashing English adventurer and army officer T.E. Lawrence in the 1962 epic masterpiece Lawrence of Arabia for one of his eight best actor Oscar nominations without a win, has died, his agent told BBC News. He was 81. The actor died Saturday at The Wellington Hospital in London after a long illness, his agent, Steve Kenis, said.

She ain't no MJ though.

This! Shailene Woodley is really beautiful, but it’s a sweet girl next door beauty. That’s not MJ. MJ is the do-a-double-take-when-you-see-her-walking-in-the-street kind of hot.

In my opinion, the acid test for casting Mary Jane Watson is her very first appearance in the comics. Even if it’s almost certain that that scene will not be in the movies, it most certainly should be the one that they should use for casting. If you can’t see a girl doing that scene and getting the attitude right, then she’s no good for the part:
