There’s a wide difference between fights that happened in their last three, over a 1-1.5 yr span, and you trying to act like fights from over four years ago have any relevance now, when they don’t. Especially when talking about deserving a title fight, more recent fights hold more weight than fights that happened 11 fights ago. A knockout loss to Rose Namajunas in a lower weight class last year holds way more weight than a than handing an end of her career Rosi Sexton her third straight loss in 2014.

Why do old fights no longer have relevance? If a fighter has an overall good record, then this matters, and the reverse as well. And you know it. But acknowledging this would defeat your straw-man argument.

Fighters are the sum total of what they have done, not just what they have done recently. There is not just some arbitrary point when older fights stop being part of a fighters record, which, of course, is an indicator of what they have done. Otherwise records would not matter in rankings, and they are the primary indicator.

Disagree. Flyweight belt was on hold for nearly a year, with no real contenders arising in the meantime. The division needs a big name match-up, and this is the best option.
