Martial arts expert gets more than 17 years for exploiting children
MILTON — A former Milton man and martial arts expert has been sentenced to more than 17 years in a federal prison on charges of sexual exploitation of children.
Mark Densberger, 48, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James F. McClure Jr. to 206 months in prison, three years supervised release and a $2,000 fine on charges first filed locally about three years ago.
In 2005, Densberger received one to three years in a state correctional institution for felony counts of molesting children, with the terms to run consecutively. He was also fined $500 for each felony and ordered to pay court fees. No restitution for therapy for the parties involved was sought by the prosecution, and so none was awarded.

Densberger was charged in the spring of 2004 for sexual assaults that took place between April 2000 and March 2004. Police also said he was in possession of child pornography.
A plea bargain agreement was reached dropping charges of rape and possession of child pornography, although Northumberland County District Attorney Anthony Rosini previously said those charges were not pursued because they would be filed in federal court.
In the 2005 sentencing hearing, the former Milton man’s defense attorney said he believed the time Densberger had already served was long enough and that he had been thoroughly embarrassed by the situation.
“He’s pleading no contest to having sexual activities with his adopted sons, he should be embarrassed,” noted the prosecutor who handled the case.
Densberger also spoke on his own behalf at the 2005 hearing.
“Basically, I just want to say I know what I did was wrong,” he said. “But to say I don’t love my children or don’t care about them, that’s just wrong. My whole life is about them."
President Judge Robert Sacavage then addressed Densberger.
“I am not about to challenge your sincerity when you say you love your children,” he said. “But what happened here is wrong. Everyone’s reaction was total shock, and that shock was because it was wrong.”
Shortly after Densberger was arraigned on the initial charges, the martial arts expert posted bail. He was nabbed at the Canadian border with court documents, cash and one of his victims. His defense team claimed he was traveling across the border for a fishing trip
