I read a lot of stupid posts on here but I am going to go ahead and declare you the winner of the month at the very least.


Im sure Goodridge was like "yeah take that CTE" back in the 90's...you know, before CTE was even heard of.

People who enter into combat or full contact sports now know the risks, its still nothing that should be wished upon anyone but guys like Goodridge should get a lot of sympathy as they did not know back then what we know now.

Educate yourself and then post in the future.

Goodridge and his opponents punched each other in the head for a living and he brutally knocked some people out cold.
Also the fact that this cant be healthy was hardly a surprise, even back then.

Long story short, fighters are fair game when it comes to CTE.
They get paid for just that.

What exactly did you take offense at? You think its an admirable trait to speak with authority about things you don't understand ? Because that's all I was attacking. I've got nothing against furniture movers or mma hobbyist , I do however think its fucking rich when some nob with a double digit IQ tries to chime in about shit he can't possibly know, and does it with unflinching confidence .

What you lack is reading reading comprehension and any capacity for nuance . Your first impulse is to lash out in anger and defensiveness , rather than taking a step back and reassessing when you can't fully grasp what's been told to you. Couple this with a slightly lower than average IQ , and thats why you pick up and put down heavy shit for a living , peasant.

Fighters like Bisping, Hunt, Reem, Barry need to pay close attention to this dude's warning, and retire sooner rather than later.

Probably because he doesnt remember he fought MMA.

I like how you completely dodged the point I made. Bob Sapp got KO'd more times than Gary Goodridge and has nowhere near the amount of brain damage; that suggests STRONGLY that putting everything solely on how many times they've been finished is a completely inaccurate way of measuring this stuff, and assuming that Diego Sanchez has to retire now because of that is just as inaccurate. Fighters have ADMITTED that it's the gym wars that add up on brain damage more than the fights, but for some reason the fans think it's more about the fights than training.

Also, brain damage is an extremely complex issue. Even doctors don't know fully how it works. Some guys can have symptoms, take a break for a year and have them all be gone and ready to fight again; other guys have never been KO'd or finished and they get completely messed up later in their lives. Pornsanae Sitmonchai retired a couple years ago because he was worried about brain damage because he had a really bad headache on a flight, and the shift in air pressure on an airplane after a fight has been connected with extremely bad headaches, and he's coming out of retirement now because he's had no issues since then.
It's not just a simple "it adds up and never goes away" equation. Phil Baroni also admitted his brain's been a lot clearer and he's become more well-spoken since he stopped fighting. If your "it adds up and only gets worse" thing was absolutely true, he'd be just as slurry as he was a couple years ago and he'd only be getting worse.

You cant compare the two, sapp taps out in like 30 seconds every time while Goodridge goes out on his shield. I've yet to see a Sapp fight since Cro Cop where I thought he was legitimately hurt
