In medicine an addiction is any disorder damaging reward mechanisms in the brain. Marijuana and pornography addiction like most of the users of this forum suffer from are just as real and self-diminishing as opiate addictions.

The exact receptor bonding and withdrawal symptoms may differ but not much else does. So many stoners and homebodies think they're "doing fine" because their decline was so gradual.
