Y'all might be right. Running a search on "Jackie Chan 2017" pulls up a lot of pics and he looks younger than in this film in nearly all of them.

I want to comment on this to give some more perspective.

The viewpoints of people in Hong Kong China, and likely with certain political/social viewpoints, is not representative of what China as a whole or what other Chinese people may feel.

If I want to use some crude analogies that might help people understand it would be like like going on the opinion of Liberals viewpoints on Clint Eastwood as the American view point.

Yes in a way this is also an example of conflicting Liberal vs Conservative view points. If you look at the posts criticism and Chan's action in respect to his son for example.

I think it could go either way. I'll check it out, though. Martin Campbell is hit and miss as a director, but he DID make Casino Royale. And Vertical Limit.
