It is time to retire the concept of "prime" x fighter vs y fighter.

I am so sick and tired of reading how "prime" Fedor would have done this and that, "Prime" Machida would dominate, "prime" this and "prime" that.

OMG prime Genghis Khan would have owned all the current beltholders in MMA! Prime

Prime Diagoras of Rhodes would have destroyed Stipe and DC!

Prime Jesus of Nazareth would have stomped a mudhole in Luke Rockhold!

A better opponent for Jesus would be Georges SAINT Pierre.

You've been here over 12 years and you post stuff like this ?

Aging happens, in other sports also, many all time greats slowly devolve into mediocrity. Father time is undefeated.

P.S can we still talk about altitude and motivation ?

All of those examples are entirely true though and Prime Machida did dominate. 16-0 if I recall...

instead we should increase the use of nicknames. like "sea level cain", "motivated BJ" "100% hendricks" etc.

or you could realize this is an MMA forum and speculation and discussion are what it was designed for.

Wait until a rising prospect like Erick Silva hits his prime! Then everyone will be doing Prime Erick Silva vs threads.

No. It makes sense. For example, one recent fight that makes sense for that is belfort vs gastelum. A prime vitor would have beaten kelvin, sonits strange to act like kelvin is better just cause he beat up 40 year old. Same with Brunson machida, a younger machida would have likely beat Brunson, so why not call it what it is? They are older and skills have declined but were animals in their prime

? So you don't think it's interesting to speculate how the best version of fighter X would do against fighter Y? Are we only allowed to discuss a fighter's current ability? That pretty much removes half of the reasons why we post in an MMA forum because we like to discuss who would beat who depending on different factors.

I'm sure you have to know this is a pretty terrible post.

You said the same thing here: http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/n...-than-conor-did.3702219/page-4#post-138147419

    and here: http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/marvin-hagler-v-conor-mcgregor.3702335/#post-138147365

and again here a second time, but with more insults and cursing: http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/marvin-hagler-v-conor-mcgregor.3702335/#post-138147337

    and here: http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/1-fedor-2-big-nog-3-stipe.3697957/page-9#post-137881039

you really are amazing. I count 16 similar ranting posts in this thread alone: http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/1-fedor-2-big-nog-3-stipe.3697957/page-7#post-137849705

and we're starting to see that close to 5% of your 280-ish posts are about your disdain for the concept of comparing fighters from different eras, because here you go again: http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/c...at-43-years-old.3701891/page-2#post-138061143

Which makes post 15 in this thread an interesting read: http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/tj-cody-is-already-a-rivalry.3701905/#post-138061031

"I think we need a license to start threads so we don't have to be subjected to idiots like this. Where have you been the last 2 or 3 years?"

As I look at other posts, I actually enjoy you a lot. You clearly come here to blow off steam, call people idiots or morons or dumb, then you go on hiatus for a while, and then you come back with more short-form anger manifestos. That's sort of the MO of serial killers who are silent while in prison for lesser crimes. Here's a great example of the majority of your posts (at #231 of this thread): http://forums.sherdog.com/threads/1-fedor-2-big-nog-3-stipe.3697957/page-12#post-137913003

    Your words 100%:

"I stopped reading your post at this point, because you are so fucking dumb, it would be a waste of time.
Fujita's wins you are referring to before Crocop, that supposedly made him a legit ranked contender:
    2-4
    1-4
    1-4
    0-9 !!
    9-7
    etc
    total is
    95-72

    stop. just stop."

Ironically, in this post, you are trying to show Fujita was a bad fighter when he fought CroCop by referring to his past fight history. Isn't that the exact thing you're railing against: using past performance to argue about the quality of a fighter at a point in time?

13-year-old account. Almost no activity. Then ranting maniac with a rapid, repetitive post pattern across just a few days. Donny?

The problem is that its impossible to benchmark the point when a fighter ends his prime and becomes "old".

Like with Fedor or other guys people excuse their losses for being past prime but the more likely reason is that he fought better opponents with proper drug testing.

Did bigfoot only start losing because he was past prime seeing that when he destroyed fedor he was 16-2 with a win also over former champ arlovski.

Did tim Sylvia only lose to fedor because he was "past prime"?
Does prime Sylvia kill Nog couture ect?

    Does prime Arlovski kill fedor?

Young Sylvia would have been a legitimate stylistic problem for the best version of Nogueira.
