I might get a new laptop, recommendations?

I've been on the Apple bandwagon for about 8 years and have been very happy.

Asus Zenbook, best notebook I've ever had, hands down.
i7 cpu, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd ultrabook.
been running flawlessly for 3 years now. still fast and silent.

I haven't been in the market for a laptop in years, so I'm well behind on the technology. Basically, I need a laptop that meets the following criteria:

-Large hard drive
-Gaming (it has to handle Battlefield 1)
-Generous offering of inputs (multiple USB ports, HDMI, etc.)
-~$1000

Thanks!

FFS OP. Are you going to come back into this thread and tell us what you got?

The last 3 laptops I bought all broke at the hinge. Are there any brands with a decent hinge? I don't think I'm too rough when opening or closing m

I got one of these a few months ago from Amazon:

HP EliteBook 8570W 15.6" HD Notebook High Performance Laptop, Intel i7-3520M up to 3.6GHz, 8GB RAM, 320GB HDD, DVD, WiFi, Webcam, Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit (Certified Refurbished)

Added:

Crucial 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3L 1600 MT/s (PC3L-12800) SODIMM 204-Pin Memory - CT2KIT102464BF160B

&

Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)

Its been Great.

However, prices were a bit cheaper then.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I've done a lot of research, and I think this is a pretty good match. The only drawback is the screen size, 14" might be a bit small. Also, the graphics card is 'Intel HD Graphics 520', is this sub par? What do you think?

The intel 520 is the onboard gpu. its garbage, it's not meant to game with.
You want to be looking for something with a gtx suffix, like a gtx 960, gtx 1050, etc.

No offense, but with all our recommendations, how did you pick out that one for a gaming laptop? It's dual core with a shitty GPU that won't run Pacman. It's not even that good of a deal.

Look at our recommendations again.

I bought this laptop for gaming like a year ago, it's worked well for me. It's on clearance right now meaning a newer model is probably coming out but 100 dollars off is nice. Best buy often sells open box ones as well and you can probably get another 100 off if you go that route. I like it. I did do a few upgrades but they weren't expensive.

It's $1500 in Moscow. Well, fuck. *a lengthy rant about capitalist pigs is skipped*
Do they ship to Russia? My cousin is looking for a notebook exactly like this one.
I'm guessing certain brands have high tariffs. You might want to do some Google fu to see what brands don't have the high import fees

Thanks, but it's not the brands it's fuckfaces who we have instead of sellers. And I already googled about Newegg and you have to use a middleman to buy from there. Sucks some serious balls =(

Thanks again for the info, it's much appreciated. I will either settle on one of two models of the HP Omen:

1) HP - OMEN 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 8GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 - 1TB HDD

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-ome...x-black-twinkle-black/5712737.p?skuId=5712737

$849.00.

Graphics card looks great, from what I could see from Youtube gameplay videos. It doesn't have SSD, but I guess that's a trade off for the more affordable price.

2) The 'upgrade' seems to have 128GB SSD + 1TB, although it's refurbished.

HP OMEN 15.6" FHD IPS Display Laptop, Intel Core i7-6700HQ, GeForce GTX 960M, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, 8GB DDR4 (Certified Refurbished)

$889.00.

Is it worth upgrading to a refurbished system? Also, is this a considerable difference between graphics cards?

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 vs. GTX 960M

No. Take the $40 and put it towards adding an ssd the first system.

I'm not sure I know how to do that, although I can follow procedures if they are available. Will this HP Omen allow an SSD installation, and can it be done for $40?
