General MMA Discussion & Future Lines - March, 2018

Can't fathom the decision making getting rid of 125 but keeping 80% of the wmma roster. Can't wait to watch Eye or any other head and arm throw failure fight instead of Devieson, Pettis, Fig and so on /s

As I've said. Nothing but 'Moneyball' thinking. We can have these bums fight for 10/10 and get similar ratings, why pay someone actually talented? I fear for the future of this sport tbh

It's pathetic for WME-IMG/Endeavor to even contemplate getting rid of a division. This sport has come too far for that. That's the problem with having a bunch of non fight fan casual corporate people owning the premiere promotion in the sport instead of real fight fans like the Fertittas. Leads to such short sighted thinking.

It's even worse than "Moneyball" thinking, though, since WMMA is a financial disaster for the most part. Despite her victory over Rousey and the UFC endlessly promoting her, Amanda Nunes is even less of a draw than Demetrius Johnson is. Of currently active female fighters, Cyborg is a moderate draw and that's it.

However, I disagree that this is bad for the future of the sport. It's just another opportunity for Bellator, Rizin, and others to grow and challenge the UFC.

And on the bright side, WMMA is much, much easier to bet on than most of MMA.

I think they're opening 165 in lieu of this but still a bewildering decision to keep the womens 125 division. For that matter there are about 3 talented fights at womens 135 but hey, cut legitimately talented people instead.

Agree it opens up Bellator and One etc to do something with it but can we trust anyone to do so. Hopefully One grand prix at end of year can add these guys

I don't care how weak any division is at any given moment, any cuts of weight classes means that we are going backwards towards making this a niche sport on the fringes again and as such are an abomination.

They just cut Jose Torres. While I wasn't horribly impressed with Torres, he is objectively a more skilled fighter than any female fighter in the world, Nunes and Cyborg included, and would obviously destroy either in a fight when one also factors in his advantages in terms of physical strength. (Despite being substantially smaller than Cyborg)

That definitely leaves a sour taste in one's mouth.

Askren -250
Lawler +200

Those are off IMO and I wont be suprised to see Lawler closing as a favorite or pick em. I already put 2u on Robbie even when I hate locking my money for 2 months and a half.

Yeah I'll be betting Lawler also at those odds. I think most people will but coming back off a long lay off and with his age, it won't be more than 1U for me

I feel like Torres was gonna be out of the UFC pretty quickly, anyways. Dude could easily have been 0-2 and already cut.

But he wasn't. He was 1-1, young, and undefeated before entering the UFC. And the guy he lost to is a future top 10 talent.

He was a mediocre fringe-UFC FLW talent who started slow and his only win was by spectacular self-KO.

Where is this?

1XBET.com

Not sure Im ever going to be able to withdraw my money FWIW.

PS: Is the only place I can get that takes money from my country.
You should purchase some Bitcoin and that would allow you to bet at some other legit sportsbooks that take most everyone like NitrogenSports or exchanges like Fairlay or BetBTC.co.

You're missing the point. He might not have been spectacular by the very high standards of the UFC flyweight division, but he belonged, was still very young and capable of improvement, more skilled than at least a third of the UFC's male roster, and every single fighter on the female roster.
