Don't forget that Strickland beat Pereira up when they trained together

That fight was absolutely hilarious. Sean got massively tagged to sleep by Alex. His eyes like instantly shoot up to the sky, then he collapses backwards, gets up and starts protesting while stumbling all over the place, lol. I don't see the rematch going well; moving into Alex just won't work.

Strickland complaining to the ref for denying his soul passage to Valhalla, understandable

Both are boxing specialists and sparring rounds aren't 100% power.
It's probably close sessions with both men trading jabs and hooks and the occasional kick. Sean's volume and defence probably allows him to have big success sparring because it's easier to pressure when sparring since counters can't kill you instantly. (Some guys just wade forward like dummies and no defence)

In a real fight we've seen Pereira's footwork and left hook cause big issues and as a fan of both I think Pereira has the better style for a live fight since he does his best work at range and can pick through Stricklands elite defence with angles and feints. Sean can't trap Pereira like he did Izzy since Izzy likes to plant while striking on yhe backfoot and Pereira likes to float to different angles.

Sean throws significantly more than Pereira, it would not surprise me if in his mind he's winning rounds considering its just sparring.

In real life, Strickland was completely outclassed, and utterly destroyed.

Unlike Izzy, Alex is a warrior, aside from being technically-superior, and not afraid to throw down.
I don't really see a path to victory for Sean. Unlike with Izzy, it is sheer suicide to move aggressively into Alex, and Sean doesn't have much of anything else. If he were to drift back and counterpunch, I don't see that going well either.

If you watch the fight closely, Sean was actually doing pretty decent on checking the calf kicks, which not many have shown that ability. But a tad just before the finish, you see Alex land 2 good calf kicks, clean as fuck on Sean. Sean then checks/moves out for the next one. Then Alex fakes the calf, which Sean lifts his left leg up, and then throttles him with the left hook. Those calf kicks set up everything for Alex. Its so deadly.
His fight with Bruno Silva, the only one he didn't finish, was because Silva being a southpaw neutralized the leg kick naturally. Alex uses the calf kick with tremendous efficiency in setting up his offense up top.

After training with Pereira he said that Alex was "all offence, no defense" and that he won most of the rounds they sparred.

Got a source for that? Or are just making shit up..

Anyone counting win/lost rounds in sparring is a clown. He's probably factoring in that he was plodding forward and controlling the octagon while Alex was working on his timing and distance lmao.

That's the problem right there. Sean was keeping track of his sparring like it was a contest while Alex was using sparring as training.

good fighters don't try to win all sparring rounds
this is sparring afterall not competition there is no winning in sparring
pereira has sean's number sean himself knows alex can move down and take his belt if dana let him

Ya well don’t forget Patrick Cummins use to beat guys up in the gym all the time

In sparring you don't go 100% most of the time. Also maybe shinguards

So in a sparring round, Pereira without power, without deadly leg kicks Strickland fares way better.
Also you learn your opponents move and the momentum can change.
Pereira has a weakness against right hands, maybe Strickland learned to exploit that.

Doesn't matter because even though Stricks may have tagged him up, the few that got through for Pereira would've KOed him silly in a real fight with small gloves going full bore

After training with Pereira he said that Alex was "all offence, no defense" and that he won most of the rounds they sparred.
He never said Pereira is all offense, he just says skill wise he's superior striker than him, but when this guy (Pereira) touches you, you just die.

Its very common in sparring the "lighter" guy usually wins.
since a guy like Alex, who relies a lot in power and knockouts can't use his weapons properly.

Idk perhaps they don't throw that many 100% left hooks with 4oz gloves and no headgear in training etiher

Still hilarious to me that Sean did better against Izzy in their fight than Poatan did against izzy in any of their 4 fights.
