Damage in fights, with focus on Stipe vs Ngannou

Stipe had a Mouse under his eye while Francis looked like he was in cardiac arrest. I bet Francis had a much worse headache too

I don't know what people were watching

After round 1 Ngannou looked like this

Right so since that fight ended, there have been numerous posts saying something among these lines: Ngannou didn't receive any damage, but did you see Stipe's face? yada yada yada

Stipe had Ngannou trapped multiple times in a lock, where the former was forced to put either his hands on the ground or knee to avoid a savage beating (the grounded opponent rule)

So even if you wanna completely ignore the sheer amount of times Ngannou has been punched in the head in this fight, consider that he was saved by the rules, otherwise he would have gotten his shit pushed in.

Stipe played it safe ..... and boring. The fight was a total snoozefest after the first. A real fighter would have went for the finish.

Some faces swell and bleed more easily than others. Also some guys tend to have a "leather face" - Anderson, for example, never had a bruise after Cormier elbowing him from top for 3 rounds.

That's the difference between actual fighting and point fighting. One guy was looking to finish, the other looking to feather his nest at the expense of the paying customer.

Just look at GSP vs Hendricks, GSP looked like he'd been attacked by a bear at the end of the fight.

Yet he clearly destroyed Hendricks.

Destroyed huh?

GSP fanbois never cease to amaze.

Herb "The Dean of Herb" Dean & Stipe Miocic made a nice tag team to win the match at Wrestlemania 220. Stipe "RESTled," and Herb REFER-eed, rarely standing them up when there was little to no action and Stipe was clearly not working for the finish.
Poor Francisco got robbed! Why didn't he just use raw power and stand up? He's the strongest guy and you know what happen when he connect. LMAO

One big shot can cause massive swelling to an eye, but that's not how you score a five-round fight. If you were going to score it that way, you'd get rid of scoring all together and just do a visual observation of who looks more beat up at the end of the fight.

Exactly what I was going to say. It literally just takes one particularly flush shot to cause a huge black eye, or broken nose, or even hematoma. And that's basically the story of this fight. Francis managed to land one hefty right hand to damage Stipe's eye, then got absolutely dominated by Stipe.

Visual damage is never a reliable indicator. And as others have said, some people simply cut/swell more easily than others.

So you think judges should not take into account how many bumps are on someone's face?

Everything you say is either triggered, gay, wrong, or some combination of those things.

You are too dense to communicate with but also too triggered to make the effort entertaining.

gay? huh?
anyway....lets say khabib dominates (example: conor) for two 10-8 rounds without much damage to conor's face.
then in the final 3rd round, conor cracks one good elbow to khabibs face splitting him open and smashing his nose. (therefore showing more damage in the fight)

by your logic conor automatically wins because of the "appearance" of more damage????????????

No fool.
re-evaluate your line of thinking, you are obviously a kid without much wisdom under his belt.

TS, suppose there is a fight and fighter A lands two jabs that bust open fighter B's nose and eye. Fighter B eats those punches and then pull counters Fighter A's next jab and fighter B knocks fighter A out cold with a hook that lands clean on the jaw below the ear. A drops like a sack of potatoes and B walks away and gets in his car and leaves.

You cross paths with fighter A at the gas station and fighter B at the grocery store. You heard from a friend that they got into a fight earlier that day. Having seen both you conclude fighter A whipped fighter B's ass and you start telling everyone that was there to simply compare the damage sustained by them both if they don't believe you.

Do you see the problem with judging aesthetic 'cosmetic' damage?

This is a stupid argument because Conor would have a tonne of damage on his face if that happened.
