Classmates petition white house for military burial

I dont care either way, but it would be more fitting to create an ROTC medal or award in his name, for future acts of heroism by members.

hello Seano,

i pretty much agree with you fully.

it will open the gates for all sorts of folks to make the claim that their heroic sacrifice merits a military burial for this reason or that. there are things, though, that ya gotta be in the military to receive.

i don't want to sound heartless, but we're not going to consider this boy for a Congressional Medal of Honor, are we? or a Silver Star?

that being said, if several busloads of uniformed members of military show up to pay their solemn respects, and the parents of Peter receive a box packed full of coins and patches from veterans of our armed services...i think that would be completely tremendous.

sad that this kid is dead. sad that the other 16 are dead, too.

There's no nice way to tell a hero they don't deserve something but a military funeral isn't what he deserves. I mean that with all due respect to the boy who lost his life.

You're a liar void of integrity.
You are the one denying he clearly used the word correctly so what does that say about you ?

Definition of fetishism (continued)
  1. blind devotion:a fetishism of sacrifice to one's children.
Your welcome

No.

I'm sorry. I'm even OK with something special in recognition but a military ceremony should be exclusive to the military. Its special recognition for military service.

I mean the kid had like a 99% chance of going into the military if this piece of shit didn't kill him. I say give it to him if it's what the family wants.

I think that no matter what the WH decides, cnn will go the other way.
I can see it now, WH gives military burial and cnn brings on a panel of ex military and they kill Trump for it.

Sounds fine with me, but they could also come up with some way to equally celebrate civilian heroes that died protecting others. We should definitely elevate people that selflessly go out of their way to help others, and especially at such danger. Hopefully they can be inspirations for us all, and especially the pettier people in life.

Does the US not have an equivalent to the George Cross of the UK?

I think Mattis should just point the knife hand and say make it happen. Get some reps from JSOC to do it since its Florida.

If the administration can't make it happen would be badass,to have some vets show up in their blues for the man(kid is more a man than many will ever be.)

Patriot Guard should provide the escort.

11 years. Marines and army. Iraq vet. This kid did an absolutely amazing and selfless act. 100% for it.

Marines and Army?

Did you realize the Marine Corps was the better branch after a stint in the Army, or did you want to get fat and left the beloved Corps for Army life?

Honestly I don't really care what type of funeral they give this kid. It's fucked up that we're even having this discussion.

But if the kid was in JROTC uniform, then he was working in a capacity for the federal government. JROTC is an Armed Forces sponsored program. If we can make exceptions to give bulldogs uniforms and rank, then I think we can extend some formal arrangements for a funeral. We don't have to put his body in Arlington, but we can at least send a funeral team to place his body in a grave if that's what his parents would like.

i mean you can come in w/ advanced rank for real bootcamp if you had JROTC prior.....

so i say give it to him. I mean he literally died saving lives, what a G

i mean animals get honorable ranks in War (i realize it's war, but they're animals)

I generally think military fetishism is stupid, but I fully support this. The dude did patently heroic things for his fellow citizens while wearing a military uniform. He's more a national hero than the vast majority of military personnel.

Man, that might be the most heartbreaking account of this story yet.
Your words are that of a vile do nothing bitch.

I guarantee that the vast majority of military personnel if put in that situation would have done the same thing as this little stud.

Go swing your limp wrist elsewhere punk.

no worries Palis, plenty that post here think every person in the US Armed Forces is like Nic Cage in Windtalkers w/ hundreds of confirmed kills, purposely killing women and children and it's the reason they joined. Not like we have RoEs where you can't even fire at until not only fired upon but in mortal danger.......Oh wait, we do.

never mind that the awards for CIB/CAB/CAR and such for the Marines and Army don't even remotely bear that out whatsoever. The vast majority of OEF was a training mission and focused on helping their military and infrastructure. If you're never been there, you wouldn't know that tho

Kid died while knowingly putting himself in harms way to save others, and wearing the uniform of the JROTC. If his family wants him to have a military burial, do it. No one can say he didn't earn it.

Went Nasty Guard after active duty Marines. 100% tuition assistance. Went to Italy for AT. It was not that bad, but wayyyy less disciplined. But, way less nonsensical bullshit, too. Most guys in my unit were prior service, full time police, etc... So some good dudes.

Imagine Mad Dog at his funeral. What a fucking bad ass this kid was.
