Biggest loser of 2017

Totally disagree with putting Woodley on this kind of list.
Sure both fights was underwhelming, but he did prove that he's a very legit champ.
I'll pick JJ and JJ.
Jones by showing again that his career was made by abusing PEDs.
Joanna by first getting dropped by Rose, who didn't have a single TKO win, but also tapping to strikes soon after.

th

This d-bag.

Bones a close 2nd.

That dude probably didn't even do shit either.

Those women probably all wanted it until they couldn't get more money/fame/power.

Biggest winner was Conor, who made over 100 million USD.

Biggest loser was Bones Jones, who we probably never will see fight again.

Let us know when you make it to the 21st century.

Seriously dude, ask yourself if you'd feel the same if your wife or mother was treated like this.

GDR

joanna

and sadly, jon jones.

Most destructive to career: Jones
Most embarrassing loss: Female: Joanna, Male: Cody
Biggest Duck: Germaine / Cyborg
Loss of popularity: Cormier

In the vein of Sherdog's fighter of the year posts, I figured it would be interesting to see who was the worst, boring fights, ducking contenders, embarassing in ring cheating etc.

My top 3:

Germain de Randamie: Beats Holm via multiple fouls in a fight she should have lost. Then she refuses to fight Cyborg, the woman the division was created for in a title fight and is stripped of her title.

Michael Bisping: Ducks all legitimate contenders, fights twice in 2017, losing to a long retired welterweight and then gets his lights put out in round 1 by yet another welterweight

Tyron Woodley: Fights twice in 2017 giving us two of the worst title fights in recent UFC history. Talks about how he is the greatest Welterweight in UFC history. Indicates he has an injury requiring surgery when efforts are made to set up an end of year title fight and then tries, of all things to set up a superfight with Nate Diaz, a fringe top 10 LW.

Any others I am missing?

Did you just call the Greatest of All time some long retired welterweight!?!?

I was just thinking about Woodleys two fights last night, actually.

Gives us the worst fight of the year, then comes around again to pull off an even WORSE fight than that.

But he did win them. So he can be the biggest loser who won, but not the biggest loser

Woodley is one of the only champs actually defending his title against top comp. He gets the W and people still put him on their biggest loser list... pure hate.

I think it's funny ts tries to discredit Bisping for losing to a "welterweight" even though GSP was way fucking bigger than Bisping

You don't see nothing wrong with the champion fighting Dan Henderson who was ranked 13 at time, barely hanging on by a thread and about to retire?

So we shouldn't discredit Bisping for pushing for a fight with a 4 year retired former WW champion who retired after narrowly beating Johnny Hendricks. For the record GSP has fought 96.42857142857143% of his fights at WW.

We aren't trying to discredit Bisping, he's already done it to himself. The guy sucks. Micheal Bisping was a horrible champion.

Germain de Randamie won the lottery , what are you talking about

Conor also deserves an honorable mention, for holding up the LW title for the entire year while taking maternity leave and fighting in a Circus Vargas boxing match.
Conor deserves the nod for biggest winner of the year and I can give you 100 million reasons why. Not only was MayMac a watershed moment in sporting history, but it was a totally breakthru and watershed moment for MMA and the entire combat sports community as well. And this aint taking into consideration he exceedingly exceeded every rational person's expectations in the match and gave MM one of his more difficult and entertaining fights in his career.

Jones and Joanna.

Lol at saying Conor, he made millions this year.

Didn't even compete in MMA even though he was healthy the whole time.

Because he fought in the biggest event in combat history instead.

Alvarez, who Conor beat, got whooped by Poirier taking away from the status of that win.

Alvarez turned the fight around before the DQ and had Poirier down and nearly out (which is the only reason the knee even happened), and Poirier quit precisely because he thought he'd get a DQ.

Then Poirier came back and whooped Pettis. And Alvarez whooped top 5 Gaethje.

Keep hating.

He has lost 2/4 competitions

So what is it? Does his boxing match not count, or does it only count when you want to hate on him?

You can't say he hasn't competed all year as a knock against him, and then bring up the loss to Floyd as knock against him.

will quite possibly be the underdog (to nondelusional people) in most possible matchups returning to MMA.

The delusional ones are the ones saying he'd be the underdog when he returns. Here's the top 5

- Tony has terrible defence and gets hurt in almost every fight, while having poor wrestling
- Khabib legitimately could kill Conor IF Conor doesn't KO him quickly as Khabib equally has poor striking
- We all saw what Conor already did to Eddie.
- Barboza is an absolute standup killer, who deals terribly with pressure, and Conor is a pressure fighter who wants to fight standing up
- Justin is an incredibly sloppy striker, who while is an amazing wrestler, does not want to use it

Conor will be a favourite or a small underdog over anybody he's facing at LW. His worst possible matchup would be an amazing wrestler with great striking, and that doesn't exist among the contenders (but does exist if he wants to face GSP or Tyron)

Angela Magana

-Gets punked out by Cyborg
-Gains the reputation of a cyberbully
-Brandon Vera kicks her out of her gym
-Gets TKOd by Amanda Cooper
-Cut from the UFC afterwards
-May be suffering from a mental illness

All in all, she's had a pretty rough year
