How unbelievably ridiculous.
he married her just for the jokes
"A Hawks internal investigation from Dec. 27 to Jan. 9 that included interviews with attendees concluded that Wilcox didn't use the words "angry and argumentative," but the mention of race merited his being reprimanded internally by the franchise."
What did he say to be reprimanded, if not the above?
What a joke. People of color slang the term white boy and redneck around all the time like it's nothing and it's no big deal according to the PC culture we live in.
I think he was punished because in his joke he associated race with inherently being angry and argumentative. Basically he told a joke that wasn't funny.
I don't really care. They kept it in-house and didn't try to feed any public blood lust by publicizing the punishment. I like that part.
Diversity and inclusion officer
You're basically paying someone to nitpick and find random things to be offended about, they don't have any real work to do.
They've always sucked. Team should be moved to Seattle
Dumb bible thumping redneck.
White people aren't allowed to say "black" anymore, duh. The color is being renamed to "that which absorbs all light".
good for him locking himself down a Nubian mattress monster
so i forgot "white as fuck", sheesh.
This could be a great screen name.
VantaBlack, the blackest of the blacks
Guy who disapproves of racism shows his disapproval with the use of...racist slurs.
redneck is not a racial slur, it is a group of indigenous trash.
I was testing his anti-PC stance.
He passed. You failed.
I gotta think that diversity officers need examples of supposed racism (and Islamophobia, homophobia and whatever else) to justify their existence. I'm imagining them spending hours creeping on employees facebook pages for any thing they can construe as an "incorrect" opinion.
I'm not sure what to make of this particular case. I'm pretty sure the guy isn't a racist douche, but I can see how what he was reported to have said can be taken as offensive. But then even the diversity officer admitted that the quote that Deadspin attributed to him was bullshit. So I'm not sure what to think about this because I don't even know what the guy said, other than the fact that he mentioned that his wife is black and his kids are mixed. Personally I really don't think it's that big of deal if he did play up the "angry black woman" stereotype for a cheap joke as long as it's not malicious. Like if the guy said something along the lines of "my wife is Italian, so I'd better do what she says or I'll end up wearing a pair of cement shoes!" or "my wife is Irish so we all know she can handle her booze!" everyone would laugh and there wouldn't be any controversy.
Yeah their role is to enforce political ideology (akin to Russian political commissars in the soviet system)
when there aren't many thought crimes going on, they must have to dig for them and try to interpret things as such.
It didn't hurt my feelings at all.
The only feelings hurt is the people crying over this, which is you guys in this thread.
I simply said that you can black wife/kids and still make tasteless racially motivated comments which might offend people......I see nothing wrong with what I said.
