1% of the population paying 35% of federal income taxes sounds like a burden to me. Stop eating up Bernie Sanders bullshit and actually research the topic before commenting on it. 1% is not some unobtainable status. It only takes like a $390k household to join the club.
The only reason against a higher tax rate for top earners is a single isolationist view of a concept of fairness.
It's a bad idea on every other angle.
