Saw some Elk in TN a few months ago. Also getting back into birding a little. I live in a new place and while I was all about it when I was in Ethiopia, I later moved somewhere else with incredible opportunities and didn't do as much.

I found this pretty interesting article on the BBC about a group of marauding teenage killer whales who have been attacking boats -

“It was continuous,” he says. “I think there were six or seven animals, but it seemed like the juvenile ones - the smaller ones - were most active. They seemed to be going for the rudder, the wheel would just start spinning really fast every time there was an impact.”

"The encounter is one of at least 40 similar incidents in the area. During the summer of 2020, the strangest of summers for so many of us, a group of killer whales off the coast of Spain and Portugal began to act very strangely indeed.

Accounts of the incidents suggested that the animals were deliberately targeting sailing boats. As David puts it: “They came to us, not the other way around.”

Scientists who studied them say they're not attacking the boats they're playing with them

need some advice tankbros

i recently made a marimo moss ball terrarium (or at least a first draft of one) & was wondering if there are any species of fish/shrimp/et cetera that i could safely add into this lil ecosystem once i’ve settled on a finished product.

my marimo terrarium is in something similar to this:

not sure exactly, but i’d say it’s roughly 1-1.5 gallons

That's too small for any fish. Experts could do shrimp, but it's still going to be a challenge even for them. Snails are going to require a heater and filter, but will be pretty boring.
Marimo balls in nature get rolled around by the current, something that won't happen in a bowl. So you have to make sure to roll them every once in awhile or they'll start to die off on the bottom.
For beginners with shrimp or fish, I'd recommend a minimum of a 10 gallon tank. Bigger tanks allow more leeway for mistakes. You can pick up a kit like this that will get you started in the right direction.
Here's a great starter article on setting up your first fish tank.
