For many people, the objection towards guilty verdict was based on the fact that during the case there just wasn't enough evidence to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that it was a murder or homicide and not self defense. And the fact that a guilty verdict based on public desire for the trial to go one way or the other would set dangerous precedents for other accused citizens. It is interesting. Of course I'm sure to some extent there's some cognitive bias at play here like selective memory of Heathers or projecting qualities onto people once we hear their name but nonetheless its fascinating.
