Yuriorkis Gamboa vs unbeaten 25-0 Marcos Ramirez

De La Hoya faced some good opponents early on I believe also..

God forgive Gamboa go to a country where he can live more comfortably. Blind patriotism is retarded no matter the country. Good for him for trying to make the best living he can using the talents he's been given.

....and the skills he learned elsewhere.

Communism is ridiculous? Well, thats a totally baseless OPINION, but you're entitled to hold it.

it not baseless i'm from Ireland and live and work with a lot of people from former communist countries like Poland and Moldova . who have left countries riddled with corruption and poverty becaise of communism

so i'd say it far to say my opinion is not baseless , it a great theory were we all work together live of the land and listen to john lennon's imagine .

What good are the skills if your never going to leave the ams? Cubans win the most at the amateur level because they are all a bunch of men beating up little boys.

Back on subject, Sam Soliman was also matched incredibly hard very early into his career. So was Rafael Marquez.

mexican and to a lesser extent american fighters imo have a much tougher fighting curve than europeon fighters , look at the amount of italian , british and worst of all german fighters who go 30-0 before they even fight a top 100 fighters . the wbu , and wbo titles are only around because of german promoters and the wbu's main man frank warren who tries to convinces the british public that a wbu title is a world title .

normally i'd say there bring gamboa up way too quickly but he's looked incredible against very decent opponents , and when you start knocking out top 100 fighters in the first and second round it's hard to try and tell him its for his own good too slow down .

you think he'll get a title shot of this or maybe another fight ?

actually any know anything about ramirez i have to admit i don't know a whole lot about his fighting style , only that he beat jesus something who gamboa knocked out

Eh, it depends on WHERE you look though. Democracy has dramatically failed in the former Soviet Union, and allowed things like America's overthrowing of Azerbijan's Government in order to basically steal oil reserves from the Caspian Sea, threatening War with Iran and Moscow.

Then you have Chilean leader Allende who was overthrown via America-sponsored coup. Allende was a Socialist who sought to Nationalize Chile's economy and restore balance to the radical difference in higher and lower class, providing for the underprivileged. He was also elected by his own people in and Internationally recognized democratic election. In the name of International business Nixon's Administration was instrumental in forcing a Chilean Coup, which lead to the empowerment of Pinochet, one of the most notorious Dictators in History.

Sometimes Communism isn't a terrible thing, and Democracy (such as is being forced upon Iraq, though none of their own brilliant political minds can run for office because of "De-Baathism") is not really better.

I don't think he's looked all that impressive honestly. No more impressive than guys like Antonio Izquierdo, who got tooled by Anthony Peterson and went life-or-death with Nick Casal. Yuri has talent, and unlike many of his Cuban counter-parts he's got some pop in his punches, but as of right now I wouldn't count the chickens before they're hatched. Guys like him usually have one or two small flaws that aren't very distinguishable against lower-level opposition, or even mid-level, but once they get in with a true-to-form World-beater, they get handled.

All of the named fighters did take on some tough names early, maybe more so than Gamboa......

good points kk i think is better to leave the politics to the UN forum

what level would you consider Ramirez do you think he could be a real test for gamboa ?

i think another advantage that gamboa has is that he won his gold at what 22 and was considered one of the best p4p amateurs , and i actually think his style is better suited to pro boxing his power is sick .

i think he'll be fighting for a title at featherweight by the end of the year maybe the end of the summer the rate he's going at .

a little of the topic but i remember there was a thread a good while ago about who would be the first 2004 Olympian to win one of the main world titles . i know a few have fought for titles but has anyone from 2004 won a title yet
