Regardless of their success, who are your top 3 for the most well-rounded fighters?

1. Jon Jones (he can do it all).
2. Mighty Mouse (he can do it all).
3. Rory (even thought he totally fucked up against Lawler, bad strategy)

Why not Fedor and GSP?
Fedor can't use muay thai, he can't kick.
GSP is very well rounded but honestly his wrestling is just much much superior than his striking. His striking still makes me nervous when he's fighting good strikers.

Good choices. My first thought was GSP and Fedor. I think GSP has good striking but his safest choice is to use his wrestling. I agree kicking was not Fedors best skill, but he did ok against Cro Cop and also had a great kick to set up the finish against Fujita.

BJ around the mid 00's obviously stands out as well, well rounded obviously not including cardio/heart.

Jones boxing isn't good enough to be considered for this IMHO.

Fedor can't kick? Fedor used kicks vs Mirko, Monson, Fujita and a few other fights. He is just such a short HW it always benefitted him to close the distance and throw hooks in tight spaces.

Fedor trained with high level Dutch kickboxers in preparation for the Cro Cop fight and it showed.

Gsp has one of the best jabs in the game. Also his kicks are pretty nasty. Gsp chooses to fight safe but the guy can strike.

A list regarding well-rounded fighters, that doesn't have GSP at the top?

You're trying way too hard.

Historically I thought Don Frye was the best cross trained fighter of the early UFC generation, then Frank Shammy took it to the next level, followed by GSP who represents the modern fighters. That’s off the top of my head, my opinion anyway.

Tank abbot
Big country
Mark Hunt

Oh.... I thought you meant the shape

I usually agree with you but I'm not sure about TJ's bjj and Machida's wrestling

GSP, Fedor, Bones, but MM is also a complete fighter.

Jones boxing isn't good enough to be considered for this IMHO.

BJ had no offensive wrestling, just great TDD, his kicking game wasn't that impressive either. He had great boxing & bjj, but that's not enough to be consider truly well rounded.
GSP, MM, Jones & Fedor are way ahead of him with their overall game.

When judging if someone is well rounded, you should go by the major categories of striking, wrestling and ground game (each of those has offensive and defensive aspects).

So Jones not having good boxing isn't very significant because he has good striking in general, mostly based on kicks, elbows and knees.
For instance, Wonderboy is a great striker even though he doesn't has good MT, because he has a great arsenal of Karate based striking game.

Bj actually has pretty good offensive wrestling.

I like your list and as much as I love BJ he didn't wrestle well. The game evvebd past straight joy hits on the ground and he didn't adapt.
