Dang, had trouble deciding between Drive and The Raid. They're both so different it's hard to compare and pick one. I've re-watched the Raid several times so I went with it. The action scenes are so intense and the movie is so excellently paced, it's just a great martial arts movie. The hallway fight scene and the fight against Mad Dog at the end are amazing.

Drive is fucking amazing too though, couldn't believe they tried to market it as a Fast and the Furious style movie lol

Beautiful film but little too long.

I liked everything about it and bust it out every now and then. Gets a lot of hate but it is extremely thought provoking and nuanced.

Can't really decide right now but lots of good movies for that year.

I've only seen 2 movies I would consider below average for this year.

My favorite movie isn't in the poll, so I voted for The Cabin in the Woods even though it's a 2012 movie. Wait, my 2nd fav isn't in the poll, either? WTF? Come on, Ghost Protocol is the best of the series, and is an awesome movie. I know I'm in the minority, but I liked the second Hangover movie more than the first.

The OP was drunk when he made this poll. I don't see Cabin in the Woods listed anywhere as 2011, not on IMDB's most popular films of 2011, either, but oh well, it saves me from having to vote for my 3rd fav of the year.

It's aaight. Honestly, the series has felt pretty stale to me for a while. 1 and 3 were pretty good.

LOL.

This is why it's in the poll. You can blame Google.

Ghost Protocol is better. I found it to be a rather refreshing entry in the series. Besides, you have Fast Five on there. At least the M:I movies are about 5 years apart while the F&F movies are only about 2 years apart, and basically just try to one-up the previous movie in the over-the-top department.

LOL.

Blame? I'll thank it since I wouldn't have been overly thrilled voting for Thor. Or maybe I'd go watch Drive.

Seeing Warrior's success here makes me wonder if I should've included Never Back Down in the 2008 poll.

You should have included this masterpiece: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1307989/

The Raid Redemption was my pick in a pretty weak year. I caught it at an independent theatre after eating a pot brownie with know upfront knowledge of what it was about, I swear I had a huge foolish smile from ear to ear the entire running time of the movie. The sequel was a minor letdown though.

I didn't like the raid it was all flash no substance. Sure the action was shot well but the fight choreography felt like the same old boring shit of people doing somersaults and acrobatics rather than actually trying to kill each other. The acrobatic style of fight choreography works in something whimsical like drunken master but the raid took itself far too seriously to pull it off.

I thought the exact opposite, the people didn't all square up one at a time when they had a guy outnumbered , there was a lot of close quarters fighting and desperation moves that didn't get long framing shots and soundtrack cues. At the time it felt like a real shift from the theatrics of 90s Japanese movies and more recent stuff like Ong Bak or Old Boy that broke through in the US

Not as bad of a year as 2009 and 2010 but still not great. I did like The Thing, Planet of the Apes, Warrior, but god damn did the bottom just completely fall out on the direct to video market once brick and mortar video stores started to fade out. Straight to VHS movies were just much better back in the day, while not something I would nominate for academy awards or anything they were just much more watchable and charming than the trash they throw in a DVD for the Redbox these days(or Netflix). These new all CGI b-level horror movies are the absolute shits.

Oh damn, I forgot about The Grey. Can't believe it was left out of the poll for some of these, quite possibly my favorite movie of the last decade. That would get my vote for sure. I'll go ahead and vote for Warrior though, that was a cool movie, still haven't seen it since it first came out though, just not the kind of movie I'd want to watch again anytime soon.
