What's interesting about Chevy is that he had one of the narrowest windows in terms of making movies that people actually gave a shit about, but he did use that time wisely.

In fact, of all the movies any of those guys made, Christmas Vacation is probably the one that has the most personal meaning and value to me.

European Vacation is my favorite of the series, which puts me in a small minority. And Fletch is my favorite of all his movies. When Chevy Chase is on his game, nobody is better, but when he misses the mark it is really painful to watch.

this would be easier for me to name the ones i don't like. and even then its a case of they're not in the same league as the others but still hilarious guys.

He's just a great all round human being. I always really liked him in Roxanne, great romantic comedy. Parenthood and his part in Little shop of horrors was awesome too. Three Amigos was pretty good too

PT&A and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels are probably my favorite films of his.

The Lonely Guy, My Blue Heaven and Father of the Bride are also good. And it's interesting to see him take a dramatic turn in The Spanish Prisoner.

I'm really surprised that Bill Murray isn't doing better. I actually thought he might dominate.

We all know the 80s had some awesome comedies. And unfortunately, today, most of those guys have faded out of the spotlight.

Let's remember bygone times by discussing our favorite comedic actors of the best decade in modern history.

NOTE: I'm intentionally leaving out guys who later went on to be known for their extensive dramatic work, like Tom Hanks.

Easily Bill Murray. But, check out the strength of that list. What a decade of fantastic comedy.

Man I looked at the list and for the first time I just can’t vote. Too many great choices.

Fletch was just utterly classic. That movie holds up.

I also enjoyed the sequel despite all the hate it gets.

Fletch Lives was respectable. Certainly better than Caddyshack 2.

Bill Murray was the first name that popped into my head, but then I click the thread and see the name Leslie Nielsen, and in terms of pure comedy acting, he steals it by a hair for me.

John Candy also brilliant. Hell, when you look at that list of names, you realize just how little we have in that department today. Modern comedy actors have fuck-all on them. And that's not a subjective opinion, or some nostalgia; that's a goddamn fact. That era was filled with heavyweights.

Went with Rodney but tough choice

What's the equivalent today? I guess Will Ferrell, Vince Vaughn, Zach Galifianakis, Jack Black, Adam Sandler, Owen Wilson?

The Candy man for me. Uncle Buck, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, The Great Outdoors, Spaceballs. Was legit sad when he passed

He had some movies in the 90s I liked as well, but your title says 80s

<mma4>

A very, very good choice. Uncle Buck is an all time fav.

I dunno, I'd be lying if I said Ferrell and Vaughn haven't made me laugh my ass off. I'd also add John C. Reilly to that list now that I think about it.

John C. Reilly is a funny motherfucker

Murray has caught up to Murphy I see.

Damn, lonely fucking Steve Martin's the only guy who has gotten votes but only has a single vote.
