Well there you have it ...out the horses mouth

How can these guys say this with a straight face..fully admitting he fights small people cuz he cant hang with guys his own actual size ...

This weight cutting culture has got to go some how .. there must be a solution..

This dude is walking around over the LW limit and is fighting at 135lbs..

Come on man...have some dignity or honor ...

You know the whole PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE thing. ..

I know..Sherdog be like but but but they all cut weight..or if he makes the weight then its allowed .

Pfft ..do better MMA world... Weight classes should actually mean what they say ... otherwise just remove em...

Edit: Im seeing alot of people Struggling with the O.P.....im using this as reference to the bigger issue here... No 159lbs person should be the champion at 135lbs that's not what weight divisions mean..my THREAD is about how ridiculous weight cutting has gotten that fighters are doing this almost out of necessity when it could be fixed rather quickly.

159? Sounds like he cuts the same amount of weight as his competitors and is the same size as them.Justin Gaethje isn't walking around at 159 you dork.
Hence why i said the weight classes should mean what they say... otherwise whats the point if u have a 155er as ur ,135 pound champion does that make sense to you. ? LOL...

Not going to get into this with you again, as I'm now double-yellow because of your tattle-tail ass, but you understand nothing.

Just like punching-power is an advantage, just like having a great chin is an advantage (all genetic), so too is being huge for the weight an advantage.

None of these "advantages" = "cheating"; they are simply advantages.

Just like lack of punching power, just like lack of chin, just like lack of good size for the weight are disadvantages.

The entire point of combat sports is matching peoples strengths + weaknesses up.

Being "big for the weight" is but one (of many) possible strengths.

Don't be so dumb. He is saying he won't fight Justin or Charles Oliveira and you are trying to imply that he is the same weight as them. Everyone cuts weight. Charles would have to fight at 185 if he did the same, and those middleweights would have to fight at heavyweight if they did the same...

... And then the heavyweight division wouldn't be so filled with overweight fat fucks. Shit, I hope they do that. It would be like 15 years ago when we had 5 divisions filled with killers

I beg your pardon?.. i never told on nobody brother ...

Also no .. your point is just as nuts as before .. weight classes were created to eliminate such bullshit.. so that the fighters are as closely matched up physically as possible so the fight is about who's better skill wise and who prepared better cardio wise and who has more heart and will...THATS WHAT FIGHTING IS ABOUT..who wants it more..

Not how big can i get while my opponent stays smaller then me ..

The weight classes should mean what they say or remove them..

Then u can have your chaos of just another advantage when Jon Jones fights Islam for the title...cuz well being bigger is just one advantage am I right? ...

Open weight or make the divisions matter...fuck all this dehydration bullshit taking advantage of day before weigh in bullshit..

Ive never cut more then 5-8 pounds max for a BJJ tournament and that was only cuz i registered late ... And weighed in day of the fights and still competed..

Weight cutting is a plague

My point exactly...the whole system needs correcting...it doesnt make sense..

Why is a 159 pound man our 135lbs champion...

135lbs means 135lbs bruh... Its IN THE TITLE

Okay, fair enough, maybe wasn't "you" who tattled ...

Either way,

Gaining skill at weight-cutting is an art.
Being "big for the weight" = AN ADVANTAGE;
Being "small for the weight" = A Disadvantage

Pereira exemplifies this; which is WHY he is a 2-Division Champion, across 2 Platforms
Gastelum is a failure at BOTH, which is WHY he can't become Champion in either division.

Denial does not = rebuttal.

There will never be any such thing as a "fair fight."

One guy may have better striking, better grappling, a better chin, better reflexes, etc.
And one guy may be "bigger for" THE SAME WEIGHT.

The cry boo-hoo over the fact some people are genetically "bigger for the same weight" is asinine.
It's just one of many possible advantages, but it's NOT the whole story.

These things are not the same and you know it...

Answer me why do we have weight classes then in the first place if size isnt so important as u claim..and it just the same as being better at punching LOL..

Why isnt it Jones vs Islam UFC 300 for the title?..

You tell me ...

Nothing is "the same" genius.

We have weight classes to get people "the same size" to fight.

You still can't comprehend that the 6'1" Thomas Hearns was actually smaller than the 5'9" Marvin Hagler.

Bone density, musculature, everything plays a part in "weighing the same" ...

In fact, when the 6'1" Hearns faced Sugar Ray Leonard, at 147, Leonard remarked how "scrawny" Hearns looked AT THE WEIGH-IN ...

But how ENORMOUS Hearns looked come fight-night ...

Still, Hearns LOST to both shorter Leonard and Hagler ... because [although Hearns had a size-advantage (for BOTH weights)], he never had (1) the stamina, nor (2) the CHIN.

You really should just sit down and shut up.

Being "big for the weight" is always an advantage ... but is not the whole story, nor will it ever be.

So how are people the " same size" if one fighter is " bigger for the weight class" lol..

Ur contradicting yourself in your own post...ill let that one marinate on its own . ..

Size is a huge in fight when skills are similar.. not the same as they never are and that we agree on ..bro .. which is what makes every fight different is the style and skill and mentality which is huge in fighting.. it's how leonard beat Hagler...he was mentally prepared to throw 3 to 4 shots everytime Hagler tried to come in with those murderous hooks...he was prepared to mentally to go out pace Marvin...besides this is MMA size matters even more in MMA then Boxing

But weight shouldn't be a factor in a fight contracted to take place at a certain weight...

It only matters in open weight competition...

Which is why you chose not to answer about why its not Jones vs Islam because it wouldnt be competitive and size obviously matters.

Who's your favorite fighter and why aren't you making the thread about them? They're doing the EXACT SAME THING O'Malley is doing.

Consider This: The entire combat world understands what I'm saying, and has done so for decades. Even a Century.

The fact that "you" do not, is an indication of your incredible denseness, and that's all that it is.

/ of debate.
