SAN BRUNO — A pair of shoes designed by entertainer Kanye West was stolen in an armed robbery late Thursday night, police said. The victim listed the Yeezy Boost 350 V2 “Cream White” shoes for sale through an app and agreed to meet a buyer about 11:42 p.m. at San Felipe and Milton avenues on the southeast side of town, said Lt. Ryan Johansen of the San Bruno Police Department. The buyer arrived with three other males, one of whom pointed a handgun at the victim and took the shoes, Johansen said. The suspects fled in a white Chevrolet sedan.
The suspect armed with the handgun was described as Latino and about 15 to 17 years old. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and black Polo pajama pants.

Here is "high-end footware" in question:

Does anyone have insights here? Doesnt make sense to me.

Certain groups of people will covet anything famous and/or rare.

No matter how ridiculous.

The reason is generally that they "need" to show their worth to other groups of people.

I dont get fashion in general, but I really dont get male fashion, and especially on the level of buying Yeezy shoes and shit. I've never had to impress women with my wardrobe, as I have more to offer. t shirt, jeans and I'm good. I'll wear my shoes until they're falling apart.

Dunno, i only buy aasics for runners for the past 8 or so years, they have the best gel packs and protect my shins from the concrete jungle that i live in. I got hooked on the nimbus and now buy gt- whatever

For my work shoes i used to pick up 1 cheap pair a year from aldo and stick a dr schols gel inside, but last year i bought a mr cat dress shoe in brazil and they are lasting pretty well!

The foam will just dry up and fall apart. People who collect expensive Air Jordans are going to be sad when they do.

Male fashion = women and gay men like the type of "character" you display through your look.

Whether the power of a businessman or police officer, the mystery and openness of a hippie, or the danger and rebellion of a punk rocker.

The persona, the imagination produced leads to attraction.

IE your fashion choices show who you are, who you want to be, and can provide more chances to stand out and "get laid." or be a leader or whatever you like.

I get laid just fine. I tend to think caring about fashion is akin to chewing on the wrapping paper while ignoring the gift.

Fuck Kanye West though... making that bum looking clown and his garbage wear more rich.

I tend to agree with you, but the emotion and dreams involved in the packaging are a powerful influence on a high % of people.

I don't collect shoes but can understand the collecting bug. I agree it's a sunk cost but compared to say luxury watches, cars, guns, or a decked out home theater or whatever else falls under male collecting hobby purviews, sneakers aren't that bad. They're small, lightweight and not usually as costly as the others I listed.

Kids don’t think robberies through. They are willing to hurting people, risk getting hurt, or risk jail time over splitting a $400 pair of shoes 4 ways. Kids are dumb.

I have those Cream Yeezy’s. They are dope.

you post like one too.

I remember like 5 years ago when Kanye dropped a plain white tee for like 120 bucks, and it sold out within like a second. Like, the fuck, america?

the truth is that this is a race based thing.

all of these single mothers have turned white men into a bunch of wuss' in love with shoes. '

blacks have always cherished inconsequential possessions such as rims, sound system, (and shoes) because this is what the poor treasure to show off.

depends on the type or whatever

but for some people its as simple as matching w/ your shirt/pants. I still have a collection of 40-50+ shoes bought in my 20s but all still in great condition and not like my foot has grown. I don't even dress that way anymore in my mid 30s, but i still have them all.

now, i have a smaller, but varied collection of dress shoes/casual loafers as that's more akin to my worklife and dad style. I mean dudes don't have purses or wear jewelry as often as women ( i know chains, watches, and some guys have earrings), that's our accessory

I can at least somewhat comprehend the Jordan craze, many of those shoes look nice but Yeezys? Ugly as sin.
