Until GSP improved and came into his own, at which time he threw Hughes around like a doll and beat him like a freckled red headed stepchild. He was NO match, GSP was better at everything.
This video has become synonymous with pathetic, whimpering haters. Yes, GSP had a bad fight there, which happens to everyone that has had enough fights. He would have smashed Serra 49 out of 50 times just like he did in their rematch. Clinging to that one fight and posting that GIF in every one of these discussions is just sad.The finish reminds me of another finish.....

Yeah that win against Hieron was an incredible showing. Hieron is a very respectable opponent, despite all his shortcomings inside the UFC cage.
GSP was always a very capable striker, and that's where he began his martial arts journey. That signature spinning back kick was a constant in his early UFC fights, and that head kick that he landed on Matt Hughes in their second fight was beautiful...and as we've seen with the Bisping win, the guy has big power in those hands too. He just knew that the odds of him winning the fight and not taking damage were better if he took it to the ground. And with a 26-2 record, 9 title defenses, UFC belts in two weight classes, no unavenged loss, and a healthy and wealthy post-retirement life, haters can hate all day, but that fight IQ paid off big fucking time. GOAT.
