Holy shit idk what I expected but this made me sad. When you're young, you either think the cliches don't apply to you, or by the time you get to be your parents age it's gonna feel different.

Well it doesn't. Time gets away from you and one day you wake up and your best years are over, and for all the things and people you invested your time in, they're mainly done now too. At least for me, I can say I enjoyed this shit thoroughly. Had lots of "I can't believe how cool this is and I'm a part of it all!" moments.

Now that I'm reaching middle age some of the happiest days of my life were watching the fights, getting hyped about the future and speculating on how it would all play out. We got to see the absolute peak of the sport, I really believe that.

Great point honestly. I was still firmly in my broke/drunk 20 something phase when I started watching. Lot of nights of getting the guys together and you split some Little Caesars $5 pizzas.

When I started watching in 2007 I had just joined a group of broke friends and ufc or wwe and pizza was our weekend plan for a few years. Then later on dudes were getting engaged and married and it turned into rotating who's place we were having the ufc at. Back then it really felt like those days were gonna last forever.

The fan expo that accompanied it was a lot of fun too, and we were there (like I assume most were) for that when this picture happened. We had a terrible view of the stage, off to the side by about 90 degrees.

Tickets were "expensive" at the time for Ufc 129 itself, but even that was like $150 or something (down the first or third base side for the Jays). Don't even know if they could sell out the Rogers Centre nowadays.

I looked it up to be sure, but as soon as I saw ufc 129 I knew it was gsp vs Shields. Some people may not remember how hyped that card was. That was during the time gsp had cleaned out the ufc ww division so they just... started getting the ww champs from other orgs and then gsp would beat those guys too.

That was a crazy period of time. Gsp and Anderson both on streaks beating everyone with the ufc trying to find guys for them to fight.
