Yoel was receiving at least $150K to show

He should invest his money wisely then.
It's really irrelevant that its decent money or enough to live comfortably on or whatever. 10 mil a year is more than comfortable but it would still be absurd for say, a top NBA star to get paid that. Income has to be discussed reative to the occupation, not in a vacuum compared to income generally speaking.

Well I don’t agree with cutting good talent, he’s over 40 and has a history not making weight and blown every title shot chance he’s had and shit economy now so I kinda see why. It’s not like he’s a massive draw either.

It's not irrelevant because I was talking about my sympathy for him.as the "poor, poor Romero" suggested, and my lack of sympathy for the hypocrisy among SDers for whom they pick and choose to complain about regarding unfair pay.

Also, relative to the occupation Yoel was getting paid very well. Most fighters don't get paid 350K.

lol @ goobers trying to wordsmith a sentence when really it's: "yeah every in the UFC is underpaid besides the owners, so he deserves to be too"
Jesus christ what an imbecile to suggest that top fighters don't deserve pay in this manner.

I'm just responding to Mike's own stance, never said it was mine.

Well it's certainly possible to discuss whether a salary is fair or not without being sympathetic. For a title contender that was the defacto number two in a division, it seems low. It's entirely reasonable to state that and also agree paying guys 10/10 is low. Not sure why it has to be an either or thing.

Sherdog often assumes hypocrisy by arbitrarily assigning opinions to people, whether they have those opinions or not.

As far as most fighters not getting 350K goes, sure. Yoel isn't most fighters though, and stating what most make isn't an actual argument as to why an individual should or shouldn't make that amount.

That's fuckall for a dude who fights once or twice a year and brings people to watch.

No one is tuning in to watch Joe Scruggs vs div 1 wrestler b or laureli shoobadoo vs Shaniqua
LOL good lord man

Go back, and reread the exchange. If anyone was arguing everyone is underpaid so it's fine if top guys are too, it was him not me lol. I was making the complete opposite argument.

The UFC is brilliant at running interference.

Consider that actual hardcore fans on a message board are openly debating if the 18% of revenue that goes to fighters - arguably the worst overall deal in all of sports - is low enough.

The UFC are paying these guys table scraps in exchange for brain damage.

Never said that wasn't possible, nor did I say it was an either or thing.

I wasn:t making an argument about what he should or shouldn't make.

That's actually not my stance tho? Like, not at all.

@Mike the only one here constantly using "should" or "has to" is you.

I only did with the investment comment, I think.

Sure.

Saying that you don't care that yoel was underpaid because other guys are underpaid even more, certainly does imply it's an either or thing.

I never said I don't care. I care. I'm just not very sympathetic, because it's not that big a deal to me. It's still a deal, just not a big deal.

It's not me who is seeing things black and white.

Also @Iroh you seem confused or something. Brackis said this. Which clearly implies he is criticizing people saying it's fine if that the ufc underpass top guys because they underpay everyone. I've never made any such argument itt, and the comments YOU have made are far closer to that argument than anything I've said. MY comment was that it only makes sense to discuss income relative to what that person is doing.

Which was a counter to your comment that 300k is good pay in general. I was arguing that it is NOT good pay for someone that is a top guy in their division headlining cards.

Misrepresenting quite clear comments I make into something else entirely doesn't mean I actually said those things or expressed those views though.

So, yeah.

Neither of us said it.

I didn't say you said it. I said I responded to your stance. Not that what he said was your stance, nor is it mine.
