I understand why the wiegh ins need to be 24 hours before the fight, makes perfect sense.

But why cant they at least reconrd the wieghts of the fighters as they are entering the cage for the fight ?

People constantly talk about weight differential on fight night, why not just wiegh them so everyone knows exactly what the disparity is or isnt?

step back TS and think about the forest not the tree.

the AC does the weigh-in, and as you say 24 hours in advance, for reasons you already know. so weigh-in's at the event would be 100% for curiosity, not for policy.

the AC has no interest in your curiosity. UFC might.

but why would the UFC want you to know this? doubt they want you to know this. how will it improve their profitability?

so, no event weigh ins.

at least, that's my take. if you can think of a good reason the UFC has to give you (unofficial, pure curiosity) event weigh-in's AND can increase profitability, i'll listen.

i think the main reason is no one gives a fck to reveal that information - its not necessary or part of any process - most any org knows that disclosing information is something to shy away from, generally, unless necessary - the public makes ridiculous cases out of anything put out there, no need to give them anything

There's already so many excuses, no one ever seems to just 'win' a fight, at least according to Sherdog.

If Sherbros knew the actual weights of fighters it would be another reason no one ever actually wins.

special concessions to those who either are really good with words or are 'humble'

Because they want fighters to cut weight

I don't actually understand the 24 hour advance in the weigh in. Why not do it before the fight? Heaven forbid somebody fights at their normal weight...

I've been saying this since i started watching mma. They should put a scale in the floor right where they get patted down and greased up by the officials. As they are getting Vaseline put on we could see the fighter's current weight.

good for you to know but not good for ufc that everyone should know

This. Jones would be even less marketable with casuals knowing the real size difference. Gus is the only one who is even close in size to Jones.

Oh please. Jones doesn't cut as much weight as other LHWs, like Glover for example.

- It does make sense. They need to keep the money coming into the casinos based upon how the fights look at the weigh ins and its effects on the betting line. Don't believe the "It's for the fighters' safety" talk

But why cant they at least reconrd the wieghts of the fighters as they are entering the cage for the fight ?

- Because it will show the truth: a larger fighter beats a smaller fighter if the skills are equal. They need guys 195 beating up on guys 178.

- I agree. After all, HBO does this for their boxing

I wish the weigh ins were the same day of the fight because it would settle a few debates.....
