Anyone watching this? I got mixed feelings about the first 2 episodes. It's well filmed, great production value and the story so far is interesting, but I think Sheridan went way overboard with the philosophical dialogue and forced symbolism of some scenes to the point that it just sounds cheap and corny.

What is it? A nature documentary or something?

Yellowstone
follows "the Dutton family, led by John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States, under constant attack by those it borders — land developers, an Indian reservation, and America’s first National Park. It is an intense study of a violent world far from media scrutiny — where land grabs make developers billions, and politicians are bought and sold by the world’s largest oil and lumber corporations. Where drinking water poisoned by fracking wells and unsolved murders are not news: they are a consequence of living in the new frontier. It is the best and worst of America seen through the eyes of a family that represents both."

I'm watching.
It's nice looking for sure, and i am interested in the story...but nothing mind blowing so far

Same guy that worked on Wind River works on this too. Will watch later.

Is this like Brokeback Mountain the TV show, or more like Dallas the TV show in Wyoming?

I've been wanting to check this out. I hadn't realized it started yet. I'll definitely get on it.

Quick question, how do get away with they showing the chicks nipple and them saying F*** in the show so much?

Not that it bothers me but I'm interested how that got that passed through on network television.

Yup! I'm in from the get-go! I love this series so far. Man, does John Dutton wield some power or what?!?
I feel he's trying to protect his way of life and that of his people, but man... That's a LOT of power in his hands.

Episode 3 is more of the same and I'm starting to feel a bit disappointed in the show. Kayce story is disjointed, like it's made of scraps of ideas that Sheridan can’t seem to fit anywhere else. The dialogue is occasionally cringeworthy and the sibling rivalry isn't all that interesting, basically the hight points of this show is the scenery and political manuvering between John Dutton, the Reservation and land developers.

I thought the last episode was pretty bad. Show has been a bit too over the top.
And im also not interested in the sibling rivalry
The girl has an excellent body though

I'll try to watch it for story after seeing Kelly Reilly's Hall of Fame nipples and bare buns. Nice of Spike TV to show that uncensored. Progress.

MGM recently showed Kelly LeBrock's beaver and side boob and Rene Russo's boobs. I think cable has more freedom than broadcast. Even CNN allowed "shithole" many times and one shooting survivor said "don't give a fuck" referring to "thoughts and prayers" instead of actual gun control laws.

Regarding the censorship...I believe Paramount, FX and all other cable channels can show whatever they want as they're not available over free air. They police themselves. I think the success of HBO/Showtime shows have forced them to relax their rules. ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX all have to adhere to censorship guide lines. I could be wrong.

As for Yellowstone...just watching for tits now.

Taylor Sheridan is an effective writer/director for US audiences because Stateside viewership doesn't typically favor arthouse, long-take, patient storytelling - it's slightly more european stylistically, and tends to surprise people when it shows up in a modern western or cartel film, so it works

imo that yielded some eerie, atmospheric, tense movies (Sicario, Hell or High Water) but in a TV serialized setting arthouse styles will absolutely decimate its own story's pacing and tone

TV shows fight a balancing act between constantly escalating progress dramatically without feeling forced but still having enough quiet tension to feel grounded to its setting. Taylor Sheridan is all patience. Will be interesting to see where he makes his move, dramatically with this show

Interesting.... I remember in the past when they would show a naked chick they would either edit that part of the movie out or blur it all together
