Yay or nay: Jones' 2011 run > Shogun's Pride GP 2005 run

Yes, Jones run in LHW division, with this level of popularity and visibility in the UFC is leaps and bounds more impressive than any other run in MMA history.
 
How is out of prime Shogun & Rampage, Bader who was only a prospect back then and Machida better than prime Rampage, Arona, Prime Lil Nog and Overeem?

Because Jones hadn't even hit his prime when he destroyed Shogun and everybody else.
 
I think it's an obvious yay. Jones' run is unparalleled by any other run in MMA history. His talent is even more impressive. We'll see it on display again next week.
 
Yay. Jones 2011 is the best MMA year of all time. 4-0 with three title fights and victories over 3 former UFC champions.
 
In two months Shogun beat 3 top 10 opponents and 2 of them in the same night. He beat a better version of Rampage than Jones did, and 4 of his 5 wins are better than the Bader win.

Jones overall run is better now than Shogun's, but that was the single best year in MMA history.
 
Bones =GOAT.
His run lasted years, and probably still will go on.
 
It's hard to judge, I think Jones beats all the opponents that Shogun beat during that time in their prime but Shogun's run during that time is better on paper than Jones' run in 2011.

That being said Jones is GOAT are would also wreck the 2005 version of Shogun despite what some of the rose tinted glasses wearers on here say.
 
Anyone who say Jones's 2011 run is better either misread the question to think its his whole run in general or is new to MMA and does not know who Arona is. Two out of prime fighters, a prospect, and a middleweight does not beat Top 3 Arona, Top 10 Rampage, Lil Nog, and Overeem.
 
Shoguns PRIDE GP run is the greatest in the history of the sport imo. I believe the competition was a bit tougher and that murderers row were all in their primes. Not to take anything away from Bones, but Bader wont be remembered whenever he retires and PRIDE Rampage >>>> UFC Rampage who just fell in love with his boxing after ko'ing Chuck. I am a lil biased as Shoguns my favorite fighter all time however lol. That said, theres ZERO doubt Prime Bones always will be greater then Prime Shogun but its just a testament to how much the sport has evolved. A few more wins and Bones hits GOAT all time status imo
 
Do people forget that shogun was champion at the time that bones raped him? He was the champ in a highly competitive division. Beat what people thought was an unbeatable champion. The only fight that could be confused with close was machida and that was because lyoto landed a punch. But the thing is jones run didn't end with 2011. It's still going.
