New Petr Yan interview is out (thanks @shoorik1987 for the link) so Imma flex my translating skills again. ;) Enjoy!

(omitting the video introduction, jumping straight into the question/answer part)

- Petr, you spoke about a tour through Siberian towns by train, when will it happen or has it happened already?
- No it hasn't. 18th of August I'll be in Omsk, everything will be planned there, nothing else is set yet. No schedule set yet. There will be a crowd in attendance, I hope.

- After you became champ were there many offers that you had to decline, to go somewhere, show your belt etc?
- No, not really, I didn't decline anything. I'm just resting now.

- Why didn't you do the Forbes interview?
- Forbes? I'm not a rich guy, why would I make people laugh?

- You received a mercedes after your fight with Magomedov and you sold it then. Now you received another one but kept it. Why?
- At that time I was in dire financial need. Now my situation is better so I can drive the car, I like the jeep, it's safe, good for the family. Back then it was a different time.

- We watched that fight, Magomed had you in a guillotine, do you think he was seconds away from a win?
- The choke was tight. Something inside saved me, so to speak. I escaped somehow. I didn't even consider giving up. I'd go to sleep if I didn't escape.

- Do you think everything would be different if you lost that fight?
- Every bout I had, if it was lost of course I would not be here today. If I lost my debut maybe I would not continue the fight career because I'm ambitious and I took every loss I ever had very hard.

- Do you feel that your career is missing an opponent like CroCop was for Fedor - a guy who'd be a heavy favorite?
- I don't know, everyone I've ever fought was the favorite, I think. A different matter is that some ppl pick opponents for popularity, to sell the fight - I don't want that kind of popularity, I'm not chasing big money.

- But your pay depends on the opponent's popularity, no?
- Yes of course it's true but now I want Sterling because he deserves it. We'll see later. Maybe Garbrand, maybe Dillashaw, these are big fights.

- Your manager in the Forbes interview said that a UFC champ can take a PPV % or agree to a fixed sum. Which did you chose? Was it more than $500k?
- We declined the fixed sum offer. It's was up to $500k and 4 fights a year instead of 2.

- Before each fight you had some issues - jellyfish bites (stings), broken fingers, operations... what was the issue before the last fight?
- Everything was fine.

- Your coach said you had a leg injury?
- Nah, he's kidding. I was not underestimating (Aldo), getting ready, knew it was a tough opponent, came to win.

- You don't want to talk about it?
- Why should I talk about it now?

- Do you avoid talking about your street life past because it's bad for your image?
- I don't think it's interesting for many ppl, it may be interesting just to make more noise but maybe someone wants to know my other side... I think it's normal, everyone probably had some street fights, some scuffles but why talk about it now? I had so many that if I'd have to describe them all we wouldn't have enough time.

- How about this weird quarrel with Umar Nurmagomedov? He put up this vid with a punching bag... he said he'd beat everyone up... Do you see him as a prospect?
- I had not quarrel with him. I only said "don't count your chickens"... I do think he's a prospect, why not? Every fighter has potential if he's ambitious, young, wants to win... it's a good attitude, why not?

- The Arlovski story, why did you react so strongly?
- You don't know the whole situation. I called him what I called him, I don't take it back.

- What if you meet? What will the talk be like?
- Maybe we'll fight, maybe I'll beat him up. I don't know, I don't care.

- Now Thailand is shut down until new year, where will you train?
- In taiga, in the forest, I'll train like Rocky Balboa, in the deep woods, it will be interesting. ;)

- You once said you need 5 million $ to end your career. Now you have sponsors, do you have a minimal amount that sponsors need to come with?
- Come with an offer, we will talk. I have no set amount, it depends on the cooperation - one time, permanent etc.

- Did you meet up with all your siblings after the fight?
- Almost with all, we are in touch with them all.

- Can you say that this is your mom's dream come true?
- I think so, I think so. It's nice that my mom is happy now, she walked a long road, she raised 8 kids, there were hardships but she didn't give any of us away to an orphanage. None of us smokes, none of us drinks, everyone has a family. My mom is a legendary woman.

- Is she living in Yekaterinburg now? You wanted to build a house for her?
- Yes, she's living nearby. Yes, we are trying to.

- You have many training videos online but hat stuff is too complex for normal ppl. How about basics? Can you say how many pullups you can do, how fast you run 3km, how much you bench?
- I don't do pull ups at all. Maybe I can do 10 max. I never do max reps.

- But we want to compare you to a normal guy. How about deadlifts, running?
- Deadlifts? Come on! Look at me, I'm tiny.

- How about running? How fast can you run a distance?
- 20-something minutes for 4km. (2.5 miles)

What did I miss? What's his problem with Arlovski?

Yan is a good guy, met him a few times whilst training, he is so technical and hard working it was evident he would be at the top.

Hope Thailand clears up and I’ll grab a beer with him and a photo for you folks

Thanks for translating!

Let see how Umar does in the UFC but it would be fun to see Yan defending the titel against Umar.

Remember Khabib father laid out the plan like Yan is going to retire then Umar will become the champion. Like they are not going to fight each other.

He doesn’t do pull ups anymore guys. He’s champion, he doesn’t need them.

What did he said about Arlovski ?

What did I miss? What's his problem with Arlovski?
Kinda petty BS to be frank.

https://www.mixedmartialarts.com/forums/UnderGround/Sht-just-got-real-Yan-insulting-Arlovski:2837261

Andrei was asked what he thought of Yan vs Aldo. In response Andrei congratulated the city Yan's gym is in, the owner of this gym, some random guys, but didn't even mention Yan himself, let alone the quality of his performance. This was very weird, Yan didn't like it and called Andrei a woolfell.

Then Yan explained that Andrei doesn't like him for another weird reason. When Yan was about to fight in Chicago, Andrei started bothering him with questions but Petr was tuning in for the fight so he greeted Andrei, answered a couple of his questions and then put his headphones on. Andrei thought that Yan acted arrogant and told that to a journalist.

(...)

The current UFC bantamweight champion, Petr Yan, spoke in detail about the background of the conflict with Andrei Orlovsky, explaining what exactly made him publicly insult the Belarusian heavyweight.

“I went live to describe the situation a little about Andrei Orlovsky and why I called him woolfell,” Yang said on Instagram. "A lot of people write about this situation, so I wanted to clarify."

“When I had a fight in America, in Chicago, they let us down to a certain room to take us to the arena. When we were brought into this room, I was wearing headphones, Leha and Sayat were with me. Orlovsky was sitting opposite. I was already on my way to the battle, getting ready for a fight, and in principle at such moments I try not to talk to anyone from outside, because I am already focused. It so happened that we sat down, and Orlovsky was sitting next to me, or on the contrary, I don't remember anymore, he greeted me, hi-hi, and he started asking some questions, I answered him once or twice, after which I put on headphones and was already in my wave "

“After that, he was already interviewed, asked what you can say about Petr Yan, to which he replied - he somehow wanted to talk to me in America, and I twisted my face, behaved arrogantly. You see, I did not want to communicate with him at the moment when I was being taken to a duel. Well, okay - this is one situation, but then I wound it up for myself for information. And then, before the fight against Jose Aldo, they ask him who you will root for in this fight, who has what chances, to which he answers - I want to fight for Archangel Michael, said something about me again that I was then arrogant. Okay, I think the old guy is already going mad, I decided not to pay attention. And then the third time he was asked about me, how do you like the fight of Peter Yan, and he starts again - I want to congratulate Igor Alekseevich, Kolya, Anya, Anton ... Well, pure nonsense. The man is 50 years old, and he is looking for some benefits for himself. I appreciated him in such a way, because in his statements it looked exactly like that "

“Now I watched his interview, where Lyutikov asked him about this situation, and he again says - he feeds from his hand, and so on. I can't say anything about this. I do not refuse my words. I always adhere to my point of view. Something like this"

(not my translation)

I don't understand how some people can dislike Yan. He is one of the UFC's best strikers (top 5) and he is going to f*ck Sterling up badly when they fight.

He is about as entertaining, but defensively sound as a fighter that you could wish for.

His running time doesn’t sound great in comparison to Matt Brown;

https://www.ufc.com/news/are-you-fit-flyweight

Brown does less than 8 minutes for 1.5 miles. Yan does over 20 minutes for 2.5.
I'm not sure if he ever ran a 4k with maximum effort.

The guy has good cardio and doesn't weigh a lot, i have a hard time believing his fastest 4k was only slightly above 20 minutes.

I would expect most male UFC fighters in the lighter weightclasses to be able to run a 4k in 16-18 minutes at least.
